A buddy of mine had this rig in high school and apparently only ran a couple of tanks through it after break in before he broke a front arm and put it up. It then sat for years until he told me he was going to pitch it. I know right throw away a perfectly good nitro car !!! He's lost it. Regardless i saved this little truck from it's death bed and want to revive it.

I already took the motor all the way apart with the exceptions of the bearings inside. should i also dismantle the carb and/or trans too ?

The engine was pretty clean outside a little rust and gumm.

What if anything should i use to lubricate the bearings inside (I'm cheap i already have synthetic motor oil and Marvel Mystery Oil would either work) if not some other relatively inexpensive option then ?

I plan to seal the engine when i get it reassembled is there any adhesive sealant (cheap) that you guys recommend?

And lastly the radio that he had is broken so i have it running off a futaba i used to use with a little tamiya electric. It seems to move all the servos appropriately but i will no doubt want a better radio at some point. Any suggestions on good radios that aren't out of this world pricey? ( i understand a radio wont be cheap regardless)

Any help would be greatly appreciated I want to get this guy up and running to bash when the weather breaks here in WV:D.

Nice rig for someone to want to throw away, good job saving it

I wouldn't worry about the trans but I would check the o-rings in the carb and seal it. There's a thread with a video how-to here on engine sealing for you to reference. Marvel would be fine for reassembling the engine.

When you get a new radio get a 2.4ghz unit. There are several that are reasonable and work well. Flysky seems popular but I don't like them myself. You can always get a higher end brand name radio like Futaba or Spektrum and save a little and buy used like I do.

That was my first real RC that got me started in the hobby as an adult. NOt a bad rig, but pretty fragile. RPM never made arms or towers for it and I'd highly suggest getting the RPM bumper for the front. Get some arms, towers and rear pivot blocks on hand. You will need them. :)

+1 for the use of marvel

Another noob question for you guys about the xxx nt !? I have found a number of places online that explain and tell you how to set the hsn and lsn but everything I've seen so far has left me confused as to exactly what to do with the idle stop screw. Anyone have some simple instructions on how far it needs to be screwed in or out ? Appreciate the help !
