My new trick is putting fuel all of the car and lighting it on fire: more problems

Gosh, Well I changed fuel to traxxas stuff. Now it actually starts and I fixed the starting problem. But now my darn buggy starts and then if I let go of the gas or hit the brake it stops and it's a headache. I got new glow plugs for it and all. I had it going ok here a minute ago. I put it on a board to sort of carb it out without the tires on the ground and it started up and went like full speed. I think I'm missing this little bolt like thing. Well if you could answer these 2 questions that'd be great....

Oh I have a Hotbodies lightning RR RTR with a .21 hotbodies engine.

Please help asap I'd like to get this car going today.

engine off - take your air filter off and check where your carb slide (closed) there should be a 1 - 2 mm gap if not adjust until you get it there.

engine running-- turn your idle screw to the left to richen it up/slow it down then check your lsn and hsn. its prob carb settings.

is that to get it running? Because there's about this "_" that much room where the filter is and that screw wont go any further. I'm going to try the engine running thing. But my car just takes of when I turn it on I have to hold the break and when I take it off the ground it goes full speed on the ground with out brake it slowly reaches full speed without me hold the throttle. I know I'm missing this one piece but I don't really see how it helps. it's like a small metal thing with a small screw thats in it and it's on the metal like shaft that moves when you push the throttle. There also is a pink plastic thing behind it. I'll take a picture if you want.

sounds like your missing your lsn? would need a pic to tell you for sure. but to get it to stop running away from you, you would have to adjust your idle screw its a small screw that has a spring under the head of it. that should help.

ya that screw is a mess. I can't make the opening wider. Should i make it smaller? I don't even think it's 2 mm. Also I'll take a pic of the piece. I don't know what a LSN is so I'll just take a picture.

yeah make when the car is running turn that screw until it idles at a reasonable speed. the lsn is teh low speed needle which controls how much fuel/air when you mash on the throttle.

Here's the missing part. Next picture will be the shaft it's supposed to be on. also I have writting on them if you want the picture with out writting let me know. These picture were as big as the forum will let me hve it.

ok I almost had the car running. I fixed it so it doesn't pull off and go crazy on me. No I need to adjust the needles.

Which way should I moved them to make the car go so when it stops it doesn't turn off? Also what if I can't turn the needles while the car is running because it turns off if it isnt moving? Also if you just slightly let off the gas it shuts off.

the shaft your showing is for the brakes (rear). the lsn is the screw on the end of the carb where your servo ties to. its a round screw with a slot in the middle. just like the hsn left=rich right=lean.

do you have it running at idle yet?

ya I got it going with out taking off I dont know if that is idle though. Also your right that is brakes. And that top one doesn't really matter right? Ok now I have to mess with the needle to see if I can keep it going. No I won't just sit there and idle I guess that's what you mean. I fixed it so it doesn't have a spaz though. Which way should I turn the needles? And which ones? Hopefully I can get it going to show it off to my family on the 4th of july.

Also I have to put gas through where the airfilter is and that's the only way to start it. Other wise it just go wooom and doesn't start. (lol wooom)

to get fuel to the carb take your line off of the exhaust pipe and blow in it that will fill your fuel line. first turn the hsn which sticks out of the carb. when its tuned correctly there should be a nice puff of smoke when you accelerate and it should smoke throughout the acceleration. it also should take off and run up without sputtering. do you have a temp gauge? if so temps should well...on average run anywhere from 225 - 275. usually the cooler the better for the engine, but then it might not run right so you have to get it to sound good and have a good cloud of smoke and then temp it. good luck and ask if you need more help.

Your low speed needle should be in the round thing my arrow is pointing at...

If you want a good explaination of what's what and what to do with what, take some clean pics of the sides of the engine and the top of the engine. It will make it easier for us to help.

VBGAGNON, Thanks for eveything. As your probably already know it worked sucessfully I had so much fun a nd a bunch of people came to check it out I forgot to say thx for everything. If you don't mind look for my post in 1/8 tth scale buggys I have a few more questions.

ok well I got my car working I ran it pretty rich so I didn't wear the engine too bad. Tomorrow or wendnessday when I race some guys I'll probably lean it a lot. It's so easy to start. Thanks sooo much.
