I bought a new motor on ebay... looked great. But it kept frying glow plugs of various types just after a tank of fuel. Then I finally got some OS #8, and it was running fair, and then it just stopped. Jesus's... took the motor out and found that the connecting rod broke just below the piston (breaking chunks of the piston off) and causing it to jam on the down stroke, then the connecting rod (what was left) went through the side of the case. Will someone please just shoot me and put me out of my misery.

Addy please.

JK I am weary to buy used engines myself. I usually buy new engines. If I get a used one it will be from a member here that I trust or it may come from a used rig I bought.

In any case, I am sorry to hear about your problem.

IB, if you did not have bad luck, you would have no luck at all.

Anyway you can play stupid and send it to Losi as your original mill needing warranty replacement?

It was a new unused motor out of the same truck.

I have been seeing/reading this a lot with the stock LST2 engines, if they make it past break in they don't last much longer. Like RR said try sending it back for warranty work. Might be time to try a different mill.

Good luck!

Ok, I came in late, but it appears you have a LST (or LST2). I think that uses a Mach .26 engine, but am not sure. In any case, you said OS 8 plug, which is a specific length, designed for OS engines. If you don't use an OS engine, don't use an OS plug.

Learned that from an OFNA tech, if you tell them that you used an OS plug in their non-OS brand (Force or Hyper) engines, I think they void your warranty. You want to use a McCoy or any other brand besides OS.

EDIT: OS plugs are either longer or shorter, which I can't remember. But this is what causes the problem.

the OS plugs are shorter with the exception of the LC3 which is made for the Traxxas engines. I've been told locally that if you run OS glow plugs to not use the washer that comes with them. I don't know if that's right, I just use RB plugs.

I had a friend have that happen with 2 OS 21 RG's in a row. I helped him break them in. I was there every time he ran them. I had bought my first one when he bought his (different store). They were even in the same trucks. The only difference was fuel. I ran trinity MHP 20% and he ran Oddonells 20%. I can vouch that he did nothing wrong. Both snapped the con-rods and destroyed the engine internals before he hit a gallon.

That would make it prone to air leaks. The purpose of the washer is to make a good seal between the plug and the head.

I ran OS #3's in my mach 15 and it ran well.
I ran OS #8's in my Orion Wasp 18 and it ran well.
I ran OS #8's in my Omega 21 Comp and it ran well.
I ran OS #8's in my Trx2.5R and it ran ok. (notice, I said ok)
