hi guys. i decided too make my own dirt track. its being built on a 80 foot by 30 foot section of my property. i was looking for ideas form u guys of things to build on the track like jumps, woopty do's, and table tops, high bank turns ect. any ideas would be great. also when its done it will be open to the public.

thanks

Good luck with your build and post plenty of pics. But... Open to the public on your own private property? That's sort of asking to be sued these days don't ya think? I don't mean to be a downer but that's certainly something to consider. Somebody get's a bruised foot from a 30mph truck and the next thing you know you'll be in court.

Just a heads up, a waiver means NOTHING. They are useless in court and you will lose if you think a waiver will protect you.

ok good thinking so maybe it wont be open to the public. but does anyone have any idea cuz i dont know where to begin

Well, I'm gonna guess from your user name that you own a CEN right? I hope it's a micro because 80ft by 30ft will be covered in no time flat by anything 1/10th scale and bigger. If it's just something for you to goof off on after work and such it's probably OK, but you start getting locals together and it's gonna seem small really quick. And everyone above is correct, being open to the public is just asking to be sued, and those waivers will do nothing to help you in a court of law. The last local track we had sat on about 3/4 of an acre, and still seemed small if we had a big turnout or were running anything 1/8 scale. Just a heads up, it's a lot of upkeep to keep a track in good shape as well. We used corrugated drainage pipe to mark off the lines, that orange catch fence like you see at ski slopes to snag run away cars, and built the drivers stand out of telephone poles for the main supports and then framed everything up off of that. We used hay bales and silt fence to control the rain / mud runoff. We would all volunteer to come out EARLY on Saturday or Sunday morning and help groom the track before an event. Ironically enough, it was insurance costs that shut ours down. Good luck though.

You're going to probably need to buy some dirt or clay if your isn't suitable. All I can say, is use clay or wood for the jumps and cover that with dirt.

hpiguy ur right it is too small i got a old 1/10 cen fun factor mt w/ a .15 in it and my friends got mostly 1/8 scale mt's. but i can make it bigger, i live on 5 acres its mostly wooded i can probably use logs to make barriers and use sand
(there alot of it on my parents property, i live in florida lol)for the inside of the barriers to cushion a impact. I'm also using logs to build up jumps so i dont need to use as much dirt.

yeah, they're right. 80x30 is like almost perfect for 1:18 scale but too small for 1:10 or 1:8 unless you're doing a small oval track.

Cool!! Good Luck with the built. And as already posted...pics pics and MORE pics as you progress please.

well this summer me and my dad are planning to build a track at my grandparents. they have 160 acres so land isn't an issue
