Would everything from these pictures be enough to get started with, in the RC plane hobby? The system is not 2.4ghz, I'm fine with upgrading to a modern one👍🏻 can anyone recommend me a cheap, reliable transmitter that's easy to use, like the FS-GT3b?
I already made an appointment to visit a new local RC airplane club. I have everything to run surface nitros

If anyone can help me define the engine and its size that would also be great, thanks👍🏻

That specific deal won't turn out, but I'll definetely keep looking. I like aliexpress cheapo planes, and I like nitro cars, so I'm quite sure a blend of both will fit me as well🙂

So you know how to get up and down...ok, well that's a start. I just feel like electric is so much more reliable, especially for someone newer to the scene.

You cannot control a plane with a wheel radio like the Flysky you mentioned. Even if you could, you don't want to. I would run away from that thing as fast as possible, and pick yourself up a nice electric trainer like a Timberwolf. You'll have enough to worry about flying if you're new to it, that nitro engine tuning at altitude can wait for another plane. Just my $.02

And, as others have mentioned, do you have any flight experience?

Thanks, I will be able to learn flying a more beginner friendly electric plane upcoming wednesday, at my new local RC plane club👍🏻
The FS-GT3b was just to show a picture of the perfect radio for me, as I'm also looking for something affordable, reliable, that includes just all necessary channels, and has multi receiver memory.
I can tune surface nitro engines very well, but even if plane engines will be different, the club will help me out

You seem like you're pretty into nitro.
If you are good with surface nitro, you could learn with aero nitro too.
You have a club with other ppl who can help too. Seems like it can be done.

That said, I see ppl with little electric foam planes that they just keep flying, crashing, gluing back together and then flying them more. Almost like a Nerf plane! Indestructable! 🤣

I am not a flyer so I will he watching to see what you do and how it goes.

I would love to learn how to fly some day!

Good luck! 😎

Understood. Unless you're getting this for free, I'd still avoid it as all this stuff is SUPER old gear. You'd be much better off starting with a new or newer setup IMHO.

This is totally correct!

I did not mean to encourage this specific plane so much as a nitro with current radio system so you can learn well.

If I loved this plane posted, I would buy it and put it away until I learned how to fly well. Then revisit this project with the knowledge to get it working properly.
I bet there are other ppl in the RC club who have old planes. Maybe a few who have upgraded their old gear who can tell you what you can expect when you upgrade yours.

Its a cool old plane. It reminds me of one that we built and crashed very quickly many years ago.
It was a not great intro to actual (not tether line) RC planes for me.

Planes are like rc cars to me. I feel like I would need a small one and a fast one and a big and small nitro and electric...

I got to the RC club, and the people are really nice. It is somewhat a hassle to be allowed to fly in the Netherlands, but it can be done at 15 years old. Tomorrow I'll come again for another "training" to prepare for a test, which I'll have to do with an electric plane, so I'm allowed to fly👍🏻
The owner gave me a free O.S. Max 25 FSR!
