Well, i went to the races on Saturday and i noticed that EVERYONE had a 2.4 gig radio system! Do you think that i should upgrade to this from my standard traxxas radio system. What are the advantages to this? IS it really worth the money?

it pretty much guarantees you won't get any radio interferrence, you would be able to run digital servos and have longer range.....depends on your budget as to how necessary it is though.....

I have two Spektrum systems and love them. They have never let me down.
You can turn them on anytime you want with no worries.
They have a built in fail-safe that works great, as soon as your batteries get low the reciever applies full brake. Beats chasing down your ride anyday of the week!
One of my Spektrum radios is a couple years old now and still going strong.
Also a lot more adjustments for fine tuning your servos.

I always say if it aint broke don't fix it, but changing to a spektrum type set up would be a deffinnet improvment over any stock AM set up...

It's definitely worth the money if you are going to be racing. There are A LOT more advantages to a new radio besides just the 2.4 Ghz. For one thing, you don't have to worry about what channel you're own at the track or what crystals you need, stuff like that. You will also be able to make A LOT of adustments for racing such as endpoints, dual rate, ABS, stuff like that. The radio will most likely have a built in fail safe as well. In my opinion, for the money, the Futaba 3PM FASST radio system is the best in its class. I have a Futaba 3 PM and a 3 PK, and the 3PM has more than enough features for me right now.
