I've recently bought a muggy and other then a few lil things it seems like a great buy but i really l dont like how much the tires balloon on it at high speeds.I'm new to this hobby and very new to 1/8 scale and this may sound silly but i was wondering if there would be any advantage/disadvantage to running the thinner buggy style rims and tires ?do they balloon as bad as the wide mt tires ?also i keeping hearing that the chassis has a tendency to bend does ne1 know of a good aftermarket reinforcement plate ? i've had a cpl nitros so far but this is by far the best/nicest and i'd like to hear what other ppl have done to toughen up the muggy or make it more reliable?I've read a cpl threads and i ordered a 12t clutch bell and dynamite clutch and bearings for it since it has already ate a set of bearings.a friend also has a muggy and bought the jammin tuned pipe for it,seemed to give it more bark and bottom end snap .oh i forgot to mention most of my driving is just straight bashing parking lots, small skateboard ramps, grass fields and we r in the process of building a track to the best of our ability hehe. i was also thinkin the buggy wheels and tires may lighten it up a bit.hope to get lotsa feedback its mine now so i might as well hear the good bad and the ugly ! see where i stand with what i should replace/upgrade. thanks
Jay:)

over 30 views and not one reply ? if its in the wrong forum will a mod plz move it or is this truck really that unpopular ?

Not too many Muggy owners on here bud. I just traded mine. You're headed in the right direction with the clutch. Those are necessary mods to make it reliable.
Diff fluids will help the ballooning tire issue. Thicker weight slows down the diffs.
A common truggy diff fluid setup is 7K in the front, 10K in the center and 3K in the rear. This is a race setup for getting it turn more consistently.
Experiment with the different fluids to get the desired effect.
A big no to buggy tires.
Try some Proline LPR tires, the bow-tie is a good all around off-road tire. They are roughly the same height as what your Muggy came with, but half the width. Much lighter too. You'll need the 17mm hexes though.
A really good tire/wheel combo that is cheaper on E-Bay is the Losi 8ight-T truggy wheels/tires. i see them go for 50 bucks a set brand new on E-Bay. They are good beginner race tires that last a while. They are the same dimensions as the Proline LPRs.

Thanks Scrogg i will look into the diff fluid to stop the ballooning .Damn thing packed up another set of bearings last night while waiting for the new clutch bell and bearings !

Smaller tires will help your clutch bearing issues too. Less weight = less clutch heat.
Put your temp gun on the CB next time you bash, better yet... put your finger on it!lol
150F+ easy. Muggy's love clutches.

So what kinda temps are we looking at before it starts to dry out bearings and cause failure. I've got an odonnel temp gun i'll keep an eye on it .Thnaks again Scrogg

Most 1/8th clutches run under 150F, when you get to 150F and above the bearings fall apart quickly.
