Bringing this back up..

I am leaning towards getting the 8T since I am trying to start up on racing. I like the Losi rig more. Its different. I do like the Mugen no doubt. Any other reservations on either? I know about the servo saver problem so I will deal with that. Anything else???

I know of a couple that had center difs lock up, one exloded a clutchbell and clutch assembly. The other one is a local fast guy that just had his lock on a few occassions. It's got something to do with shimming the internal dif gears.

Good info to know. I will contact Horizon about it.

Thanks Jet!!

How the heck does a diff lock up? Was there debris or were the diffs poorly shimmed?

Frankly Jon, I'm a Mugen boy myself because Jet threatened me with some Muay Tai (or whatever the hell it is) move on me!

Seriously though, I've run two club races at my local track and the 8ight-T's seem to have solved the servo problems the buggy had and I've yet to hear of anyone having similar issues that Jet mentions (but then again, it's a different track). That being said, the Mugen's are all tearing up the track as well, so it has basically come down to driver skill in the A-main's. The only constant issue I pick up from the 8T guys seems to revolve around the truck being a tad too loose in the rear, but I know myself and a few other MBX5T guys are struggling with too much push, so it may be a combination of track consistency and diff oil for all of us.

Personally, I cannot say anything overtly bad about the 8ight-T. They've been performing well at my local track, but that's a subjective opinion.

Jon I really don't know and neither does he. I heard this one while I was calling the race from in the scoring booth. I've personally seen his do it twice. His dad maintains his stuff and they know what they are doing. He was in the top 25 in national points for RC Pro Series so they're no dummies. The stock steering links seem to be an issue from what I've seen mostly. which, if the marshal knows what he's doing, he can usually get ya going again.

Monkey, a push???? Mooooooogen's have so much on-power steering, most guys are loose. Do you have Hughes' setup on that thing? Tires? I've tried a couple things the last couple weeks and now the truck has great turn in. Forward hole on the ackerman and I kept my tight indoor setup with the 5K in the front dif. Shorten the wheel base or go down on the rear toe may help ya without knowing your whole setup.

Yeah, a bit too much push. Two guys in my B-main (yeah, B-main) complained of too much push. Mine I can rack up to having too weak of a steering servo and 3K oil in the front. I need to check my Ackerman settings and I am not running the Hughes set-up. Last heat I ran I was running Switches and they seemed to be hooking up alright. Rig is due for a complete tear down anyway, so I'm going 5-8-3 on the oils and dropping the rear toe a bit to see if that helps. Next race is the 24th, so we'll see.

Go 5-10-3 in the difs, it will put more power to the rear wheels. Switches are hard to get hooked up outside, unless the track packs hard and blue-grooves..

Brother man, if that track had blued out anymore, it'd of been a cartoon character! They ran straight through, all qualifiers and then mains with no breaks and no water on the track. Last time I raced out there, it was about 87 degrees and sunny, so that track never got wet.

Bad part is, I only have the Switches and CF's. A lot of the guys seem to run Bow Ties, so I may pick up a set of those as well. Right now, I need to break the rig down and try your oil set-up to see. I have a couple weeks, but I will say, that V-Spec screamed like a raped ape!

I run a losi 8ight and so do my three racing buddies. Last weekend my friends clutchbell shattered. I had a look over his car and noticed that he did not have enough room between his clutchbell and spur. I think his chassis flexed a little and with not enough room between the two gears it locked up when he landed off of a jump and shattered the gears off of the clutchbell.

I have a Jammin CRT-1 pro kit. My question 's are what is a good over all set up for racing and is there a way to get more stering out of it?And are there any trick set up or part for it to make it more responsive.Iam useing an m8 radio also. Thanks for any responces they i mau get.
