Fixing to bye a 1/10 scale rock crawler with brushless motor and would like to be able to convert back an forth from a mud bogger to rock crawler if even possible so I'm sure things like upper an lower arms an shocks an tires even gears would have to be changed so please chime in on parts, gears, motor.
Yes I could bye 1 or 2 different rigs but not what we are looking to do..we would enjoy swoping parts an building our own rig
Thanks..

Maybe a crawler with two speed gear box?
My Summit really works well in that regard.
I recently got a GMade Spider kit which has a 2 speed in it, but I'm not allowed to build it until @Doom! starts on his Comp Fox.

Red cat ascent fusion lch 1/10 scale rtr ..
But mud tires would call for stepper gears don't you think
No, I dont think so. Just get some swamper type tires when you wanna mud bog and have your preferred crawler tires when you are crawling. There are no upper or lower arms to change on that truck, no need to change shocks or gearing.
Like @Tunedfrog has said, watch your motor/esc temps if the mud tires are significantly bigger.

Ok I see yes makes sense with a straight axle (no control arms) trying to find a crawler with a water proof motor an water proof electric parts any ideas

Looking to spend about $360.. just moved to North Indian an looking for others that are into the crawling..been thinking about building a mud track an mud pit if I can rent a tractor thanks for all the input it really helps... thanks

Well, nothing is absolutely waterproof. For the price, The Hobbywing Fusion SE would probably be what you want, its a 2 in 1 ESC/motor. It's a very clean set up. There is also the Fusion Pro, a bit more money but people say its worth it.
Your budget, is that $360 total? Truck, battery, charger? You may have to increase that amount. Are you buying a crawler kit to build or RTR?
I like the idea of a 2-speed transmission for you, like @9x19 has said.

Yep I see this is true$ 360 just scratches the top those things got salty lol .going RTR first I'm going to build my own when I learn a little more I slowed down a little when I got cancer anyway I bought my sun a buggy for $160 with brushless motor that's when I saw the direction this things have went in since I was a kid and damn it crazy I was a mechanic for 28 years and these things are built like a real vehicle it's nuts

So I have decided on a red cat 1/10 scale crawler if I was to put a suspension lift an body lift or just up grades would all parts fit as long as it's the same scale parts or would I half to bye exclusively frum redcat parts? ...

It doesn’t have to be redcat brand parts specifically but, the upgrade parts do need to be compatible with that redcat vehicle.

Why not watch a couple of videos on crawlers first?
Yea been watching watching lots of them but for the most part people are not talking about brands that interchange mostly people customizing there own parts ..I'm even looking at 3D printers to do my own parts..we will see

The only difference between the two is tires, gearing and suspension travel. Tires are simple to swap, 2 speed transmission takes care of gearing and shocks can be adjusted for travel.

I don't know if I would recommend a low cg, low geared crawler like the Ascent to run as a part-time bogger.

If I were wanting to do what you are trying to do, here is my shopping list:
Axial SCX10 Basecamp
JConcepts Mega Tires
JConcepts Mega Rims

Let it rip on 3S, see what blows up, go from there! Having raced a mega class in the past with a box stock Axial SMT10 on 3S, I can tell you there's no chance the driveshafts don't twist themselves out of commission over time.

Fms fcx10 k5 would be a good candidate for a starting point.
Mine is like a little spider in the creek bed and can run pretty good in the sand which can be comparable to running in mud.
This platform has selectable front and rear diffs and 2 speed transmission.
Only mods on mine is shocks and wheels/tires

definitely a good candidate!

The only truck I know that can crawl and handle excessive mud tossing power is the TRX4 driveline. I have run mine on 8S and sand surfed it. I used it for a dog chase truck. It has the most robust 10th scale drive train available. Will explode tires and still not break. If durability is the key feature you want it is number one. Axial second.
