Any of you folks ever heard of or used this product before?

http://shop.myffi.biz/en/section_100.asp

My wife s asking me to attend a seminar of sorts this evening being given by one of the technical folks that may or may not have been part of the development team (the details are, at best, fuzzy). I am skeptical, primarily because I do not believe there is a magic pill that increases gas mileage (just like there's no magic pill that'll make Jetmech better looking!)

My sister-in-law, who refuses to just go and get a job, has roped my wife into this and my wife added some of the product to her fuel tank in her van. Now, the check engine light is on. I've tried explaining that, yes, there is a direct correlation between this product and the check engine light coming on. I attempted to explain that todays engines (she drives a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan) use computers and oxygen sensors to regulate the fuel/air mixture in the engine and that adding this type of additive may lead to messing the O2 sensors up.

She is asking me to be the skeptic, to ask that tough questions of this guy this evening. I don't want to embarrass my wife or her sister (well, I don't want to embarrass her sister too much) so any of you fellas that are mechanics (because the only thing I've had an ASE mechanic ever suggest I add to a tank of fuel is a bottle of injector cleaner) or chemists or engineers or whomever and have some good questions I can ask this guy, I'd appreciate it!.

I encourage you to look at this document: http://shop.myffi.biz/en/pdf/EPA_registration_info_pkge.pdf. Page four is the Executive Summary, which will same some time.

Thanks!

Just remember Monkey, I'll always be one good looking guy, no matter what pills I'm taking. Also remember, that if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is! My technical background is mostly with turbines when it comes to engines, my recip days are long gone by and most of that is pretty fuzzy. Our engines are just like cars in the fact that they are computer controlled. poop my bimmer's check engine light will come on if the gas cap isn't tight enough. You're most likely on the right track with the sensors picking up something they don't like. Go with them, take the long way there, and delay arriving on time, it's for their and your own good. Gotta read WoodiE's link now.

I use additive all the time... about every 2 weeks or so I put something in the tank. I drive about 600 miles a week. I normally use seafoam from farm and fleet. I figure it can't hurt. It's just fuel injector cleaner.

My check engine light came on recently... my fuel level was as low as it has ever been (got lazy). It was down around 3 gallons. Filled it up, light went off.

Anyone know what causes pinging lifters? Just old wear and tear or something else? It seems like it's noiser lately, but also, it's been hot and humid out lately as well.

sometimes caused by lower grade fuel. bump the octane up a grade if you buying from places like Bob's gas stop and eatery.

You aren't supposed to put it in the fuel, the driver is supposed to take it for increased mileage. I don't believe any of that extra mileage crap works, and if it does show an increase its usually because people change driving habits and not the product.

I've got a surefire product for ya that'll help with your gas mileage, and I'll only charge ya $14.95 for it. It fits right under the accelerator pedal, and fits virtually all makes and models of vehicles. It comes in Oak, Pine, or Cherry colors, so it'll match the stains on your floorboard.

If only i could find the ebay link to that!!! Needs carbon fiber too!

i think my dads used something thats meant to do the same thing as that u had to get the engine up to temp then pour it in with the oil and it coated the cylinders so there all smooth

some how i dont think a pill can do anything like that and if its so good why don't they show a picture of it

The only additive I add to my jeep is Lucas oil treatment - this stuff does in fact work as advertised. I put it in every oil change!

Aye!

I dump the stuff in my Jetta each oil change as well. Keeps the valves quiet!

Have you switched to a synthetic oil?

As well, is it a ping? or a tick? And are you sure it is the lifters?

More of a rattle when under load. I don't use synthetic. The manual calls for 5w30 and I have them put 10w30 in it during the summer.

It's a 98 grand marquee w/ 4.6l v8.
