Ok, well my dad is picking up a NIB MP777 Special 1 for 555 shipped. I will be putting my Collari B3 in it...should be a nice set up. Anyway, some of you may know I had a MP777 regular so I know a lot about them.. but my question is what is the front diff in the Special 1? I've heard TDC or something...and heard it called a LSD diff. What does it do and how does it work?

Also, the regular kit came with some standard buggy tires. Does the Special 1 come with these? I want to know if I need to get some tires now or if it'll come with some to get us started.

Thanks.

Its a limited slip diff that comes up front in the sp1. I'm pretty sure it comes with tires as well.

vb, how does it limit the slip? Haha...just curious as to how it works. 00silvy my MP777 did...so I am pretty sure it does, on the Kyosho site it says it does but I don't really trust what they say on that site haha.

Not 100% on this one, but I think it sends power to the wheel that grips instead of the wheel that slips.

Hmmm I wonder how it does that? Maybe some sort of a clutch that locks it when one wheels spins to fast or something? idk...lol. I guess I'll find out soon :D

Ya I wondered about that as well, cause tower says for all the MP777 kits that they do not come w/ tires...
Besides, it's not like they're gonna come w/ good bashing tires anyway, get your dad some badlands, or let him use yours....but I'm sure you can convince him to buy his own since you even got him to get a spec. 1....hell, I had a hard time convincing my dad to spend $300 on a xxx-nt rtr....

Haha, yea I am gunna get some new ones ASAP. I sold my badlands to a buddy.

LSD's are basically Fioroni (sp?) diffs. The locking action is done with springs and tensioners or clutch packs that lock or limit the diff when there is a variance in wheel rpms. Much like the LSD's of 1:1 cars.

if you go to Tower Hobbies...type in "TCD or LSD" there will be thumbnails of it and they are consist of much like regular spider gears which are just smaller in size to accomodate for the 4 additional square blocks that goes with the small spider gears that rides onto the bevel shaft. "ON Power" this blocks slides, thus makes it a solid diff effect and "OFF Power" it just acts like a regular diff. Looking at it at Tower's website, the buggy LSD has some extra parts pictured from the regular one that I am running now on one of my Kyosho touring car.

just my :2cents:
