Hey guys, i was wondering what the "turns" ment when i whent to my local hobby shop. I bought a 19 "turn" speed gems motor and i was wondering if the higher or lower the "turns" is it faster or slower. can someone help me.
By the way this has nothing to do with my other question but i have a 1/4 scale car and i have this like super old zenoah motor on it and my dad thinks the coil is shorted because we have check everything out and it has to be coil. Also to make matters worse the part number sticker is half way rubbed off. Does anyone know of a website that maybe has pics of the old zenoah motors or somthing. I can maybe post a pic of the motor to help identify it. thanks

Thanks

Yeah thanks for the info i just looked at the site but the motors like really old.
but might have to get an new one. Can someone tell me about electric motor
"turn"

Electric motors are specified by 2 factors generally. "Turns" and "Winds". Turns are the number of times the wire is wrapped around each pole of the armature. So, a 19-turn motor has the wire wrapped 19 times around each pole. The general rule of thumb is the lower the number of turns, the higher rpm the motor can turn. However, it is at the cost of runtime. So a 19 turn motor will run longer on a charge, but not quite as fast as a 10 turn motor.
Winds is the number of wires that are used in each turn. A 10-turn triple has a strand of 3 wires wrapped 10 times around each pole. As I understand it, turns relates more to torque. Higher turn motors have better torque. I don't know for sure how this relates to max rpm or runtime, though.

To add to the "winds"

A single will rev fast, have a hard low end hit, the more "winds" say 10x2 10x3 10x4 (10 turns then however many winds) the slower the power band come on.
