I'll rip for a little bit and have some fun with it and bring it back to check on stuff and it'll sit and idle but then after 10-15 sec it dies.... now I just thought it was low fuel so I added more and continued on.... In these videos

at the end of each run it dies out.... the worst one is in the last video where it dies just before I turn it off the road onto my driveway..... I called my LHS and he said to adjust my idle screw.... :n00bie: There's two screws on the carb.... what one is it??? :n00bie:

OS Max 12CV and yeah it is runnin a little rich as well.... there's goo forming on the body where the exhaust is....

Slide carb or rotary?

If your rich, that could be causing it to stall when it idles. If you lean out the LSN a little bit, it will raise your idle. Or it will probably raise your idle.

No. That's the HSN.

The LSN is typically in the center of the throttle barrol, the thing the servo connects to on the carb.

The idle is normally on the side/front/back of the carb.

Any idea what OS max 12 it is? I found a few on tower, so it's tough to give you an actual example.

If you look at this carb, the screw in the long brass thing sticking up is you high speed needle (HSN): http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNWY8&P=Z

If you look at the carb on this engine (same carb as above), the screw you see on the end of the throttle is the low speed needle (LSN).

The idle screw isn't visible in either photo. It must be on the back side of the carb.

Sorry, I didn't notice that, I did a search for OS Maxx 12.

There is an OS 12CV with a weird head on it and an OS 12CV-R with a normal head on it. The manual for both list out a couple carbs, rotary and slide.

Here's a pic of the slide:

And a pic of the rotary:

On the slide carb, the LSN is on the opposite side of the carb from the throttle link.

On the rotary carb, it's in the center of the throttle link.

The screw in the center of the throttle link on the slide carb is there just to hold the throttle link onto the carb.

To lean the needles, you screw them in, clock wise. Do it in very small increments like 1/4 turn or less as the engine is running. Then drive it back and forth a few minutes to see how it runs. Keep an eye on the temps though. All the OS engines I've had like to be between 210F - 255F. Any cooler and they run like a dog. Any hotter and they run like crap.
