i was out with my rc18t a little while ago, and i slightly bumped the wall in my garage. now, the motor wont go, the little orange light turns red and green when i try to go forward or backward, but the motor does nothing. i've checked the connections, and i have steering to. whats happening?

Take the motor out and test it. You may be binding the pinion and spurr together. Does the engine hum at all?

Okay. Now it's very possible that a brush is not making contact with the commutator. Check the tensioning springs on each brush, and also make sure they are seated properly, and not chipped.

Normally it doesn't need to be taken apart. The brushes are in square sleeves outside the can. If you cannot remove or replace the brushes without taking anything apart, you'll need to wait for someone else who is familiar with the stock motor you have. Maybe they'll have the answer for you.

you see, redhatman was helping me out on cleaning it, and it doesn't have any screws to take the outer shell off

If it's the stock motor, then you've got a couple options.

One, replace it with another stock motor (about $5)

Two, upgrade it to the Reedy mod motor (about $35 or so)

Or three, brushless time!! (about $160, if I recall right)

Before you go any of the three above routes, check your motor by the following; try rolling the car on the ground. You should feel a faint yet smooth "cogging" effect. It should be consistent. This is the motor rotating in the magnetic poles.

If the car will not roll, chances are you knocked a magnet loose in the motor. To verify this, get a jewelers phillips screwdriver (that's what you need to work on a car this small, lol), and take out the motor. Once the motor is out of the car (it's four screws and it comes right out), repeat the rolling test again. The car should roll smoothly and freely with zero resistance.

Remember, if you do replace the motor, to set the gear mesh accordlingly. Too tight, and it will bog the car down and cause it to crawl.

At this point, the only advice I can give you is, remove the motor, disconnect it and wire it directly to a battery or power supply, and if it doesn't run, spin the pinion in either direction and see if it shutters or runs.

By the way, if the replacement of the stock motor is only $5, I can understand that the brushes are sealed inside the can.

Once you go brushless youll never go back. I didnt and dont plan on it anytime soon.

I run a mamba comp package with a 1300 battery and its scarry fast, will keep up with my revo when there side by side. Pluse your run times will double. But if I had it to do over I would go with the comp-x package, more top end.

Put it this way everything will be greatly increased, I get 20+ runtimes with my setup.

thats awsome one thing, whats the usual price range on brushless setups?
