They seem to be engines in the north, and motors in the south. A neighbor of mine was working on his car, and when I asked what he was doing, he said he was changing the motor. I asked him if he was changing the starter or the windshield wiper motor.
He's a MAJOR Nascar fan, and it always amazes me to hear those engine wizards from Nascar call them motors.
But then there are the ones with no moving parts. Rocket motors. Also called Rocket engines. Powered by various propellents. Some run on solid fuel, some on liquid, some on gas.
Motors, or engines? Take your choice.
Then there are Jet engines. Basically only one moving part. The turbine. You never heard anyone call it a Jet motor. This is definately an ENGINE, even though it more closely resembles an electric motor than a piston engine. (one spinning part in the middle)
However, to me, if it has a piston, or pistons, it's an engine. Electric, it's a motor.
Get it? Got it? Good.
Now I've even confused myself.
