Not much difference aside from the XTM being 25g lighter. All other specs are basically spot on. Choose the one thats going to be more long term parts support. Idk about AE so I can't say which is better.
 
Another member of the site was telling me that its getting harder to find parts for the xtm that like only one site stocks everything. When i replace the motor if it eats up another diff I'm gonna do like snook man suggested and turn it into a mutant maxx
 
That was probably me who said that lol. hobbypeople.net is the only place I know of that still has XTM anything. The have quite a bit, but I'm honestly getting pretty scetchy on getting XTM anymore. Its unfortunate, I like the XTMs I have.
