As of 11/01/10, your customers who pay with PayPal are protected for items they receive that are "significantly not as described". This means that you may be liable for the cost including the original shipping charges should they file a claim. However, by offering this protection, PayPal helps encourage customers to shop on your site.

We recommend that you make sure that photos and written descriptions on your site are as accurate as possible, to help avoid these types of claims.

The change to our buyer protection policy will take effect from November 1st, 2010 and won’t apply to transactions made before this date.

Let's all thank ebay for making it even easier for the seller to get screwed!

I stopped selling anything on ebay back when they said you could no longer leave negative feedback for a buyer. There are just way too many ways as a seller you can get screwed over by evilbay and paypay. Not to mention their fees have skyrocketed as well.

I'm a Power Seller (for now) on feebay.

Do I like their rules and feedback system? Of course not, but I do see their dilemma.

Sellers are far more likely to screw over buyers than the other way around. Even our selling rules here acknowledge that fact and protect the buyers rather than the sellers..........

I also only sell using Buy it Now with the Best Offer option. I find that I can have better control over my buyers this way. I work the system to my benefit and so far it has worked. I can say that without feebay, I would have a lot of stuff being donated or trashed since I would never do a garage sale or flea markets. Craig's List is a waste of time for everything other than cars and furniture.

I would much rather get $25 on an item I don't need or want and pay $5 in fees than get $0.
