Just scored this for fifty bucks. Need a chassis but this is so awesome looking.

Found a case with an old Dx6 transmitter in it. Fits the mini z perfect. I can go to the hobby shop at lunch and just burn some laps. I'm going to keep this in my work truck.

Gotta have a drift car. This is so much fun. First battery pack. Once it started to go a little flat I could start to control it. This is a blast to play with at night or rainy day. I tried some obstacles to drive around. Ha, let me tell you. Drifting ain’t as easy as it looks. I’m a couple battery packs away from even doing a figure eight under control.

2 and I’m building a GT40 with an MR 30 evo chassis. The hobby shop has racing and are building a drift track. I’m going to get photos tomorrow night of the track set ups.

I need a pit better case. I went on line and could not really find what I was looking for. I have this case that I was using for micro helicopters. And I can move them to a smaller case.
The mini z case can hold cars in protective slots. This all started because the Mazda has two antennas sticking up. So I want to transport everything to the race track. All spare parts everything mini z related will fit in this case. The only thing I need is a pit mat and a battery charger.

This is the track at the hobby shop. Next Friday is the next race. That gives me some practice time I hope.

Thats the Kyosho track system. Looks like a couple of the big ones. Very nice.

Does anyone have any experience with mini Z chassis information?

I have a couple page for information.

Everything seems out of stock and from Japan. But it gives part numbers . From there another web page gives specification like motor position and wheelbase. Then eBay search to find what’s available and from what country.

I bought the ford GT body. That fits 98mm wheel base with MM-02 chassis. And the wheels are zero offset front and 2.5 rear. I THINK!!
So I am still waiting on the body and I got tires for my Mazda to race next Friday.

I did get the rear wheels in today. They are so cool and tiny with amazing details.

I found a chassis that will fit but I will need a whole new radio for it. Because it does not come with a receiver. The mini z radio is 235 bucks and the chassis is 200. And I need AAA Lipo battery charging set up. Definitely going to be a winter project.

I did not expect it to be easy. But I did expect to be able to drive around the track without hitting the wall. I did I don’t mean side swipe the wall. I mean turn and drive straight into the wall and have to back up. It turns super sharp and sometimes slides. I can’t seem to correct and it goes nose first into the wall. I love a challenge and I can drive it al lunch every day. Hopefully by winter I’ll be a little better.

I'm betting it's not just your driving skill. I'm betting those people who zip through those track also really knows how to tune those Mini-Z's.

It’s a lot of skill and practice I’m lacking. The car is box stock with radial tires. I might switch back to the original tires. The car goes straight and turns on a dime .some times it slides. So I can tell when to turn. If I turn to early I hit the wall. Turn to late and it goes wide and if it slides I don’t expect it. So I don’t counter steer, bang into the wall. Basically any thing puts it into the wall. I was after the battery went a little flat able to go steady speed and gas it on the straight. Put together a couple good laps but not really controlled and at any second it gets loose.

We raced mini Zs on this track back in 2004-2006. The cars in the video are modified F1 cars with Lexan stockcar bodies. The track was both oval and road course. I was built from MDF by a friend of mine. He also built his own slot car track out of MDF The track was in the backroom of a hobby shop. Sadly the shop closed in 2006.
