It looks like the Mini XRT will ship with a cut-out in the front windshield. Not sure how I feel about this, I understand the reasoning behind it but it looks really strange. Just looks like a last minute change. The website has not been updated to show this cut-out which is also strange to me. This cut-out is going let a lot of debris inside the body. I was really excited about this release but I think I'm going to hold off getting one until I see some in the wild and see the results of having this odd looking cut-out. Maybe its just be me!!!

Traxxas took a short cut. They realized the electronics are overheating and instead of installing fans on the motor/esc they do this lousy “fix”. Seems a bit ridiculous for the amount of money they’re asking. Apparently the clear bodies also have the window cut and come with a sticker template that says to fold the window stick through the hole… I was sucked into the mini maxx but I won’t be sucked into this mini XRT🗑️

Alot of trx bodies are like that now. The nitro rustler and jato also.

That was my thought as well....I was excited about this after seeing RC Driver's video then I saw another video with the hole in the windshield and was surprised. I reached out to Traxxas and confirmed they are shipping with the hole. pretty sure I'm skipping this release!

Just like the Mini Maxx, way overpriced. I was suckered into buying the Mini Maxx too, but if this one came out first or they were released together, I would have bought the XRT instead. I knew they would come out with one, I just didn't think they would price it like this.

Dang… I defended the pricing on the mini maxx as I don’t think that was as overpriced as people made it out to be. It was being compared to cars much smaller then itself, which was an unfair comparison IMO.

But this is pretty high up there… may as well buy a slash 4x4 with the same electronics and get something that’s arguably more capable purely because of the size difference. Anything over $300 for a 1/12 or smaller basher is robbery.

Cutting out the windshield is wild work on an electric RC. Has the general population, including manufacturers, forgot that they can put smaller pinions on cars to manage heat? 🤣 Wouldn’t even cost them anything more by doing so.

The mini max is 250.00 with the bl2s. The traxxas mini slash/summit/revo are 199-300. That's not too bad. Especially if it is more durable. I spent over 200 on diffs alone with my mini summit.

I'm guessing the nitro guy at traxxas mockingly said the nitro hole in the windshield and someone loved the idea. 🤣

Not just that, but the Savage xs which is the same size as the mini Maxx is $300 without a battery. $250 for the mini-Maxx which includes a battery, was priced pretty fair considering the actual competition. Had they priced the mini xrt with 3s electronics they have in it now at $325 with a battery or $299 without a battery, it wouldn’t be a terrible deal. But $375 is crazy work.

I’m still on original diffs on my MERV. Not a lot people realize that Traxxas silently updated the bulkheads. Pair that with a couple dollars in shims and the diff issues are nonexistent.

I don't normally pay attention to Traxxas's RCs but I had to check this one out. The body openings "thing" wouldn't bother me one bit. I'd say the front window is high enough for debris to not be thrown in... unless you're playing follow the leader. 🤪 😁

Valid point, I better get better at driving so I'm not following that darn leader 😆 😆! My concern is the marketing material does not show or mention this opening, the first couple of YouTuber's cars didn't have the opening either. Makes me think this was a last minute change to fix a possible overheating issue. I'm waiting this release out until I see more of these in the wild.

That's the part that bothers me 🔥.
Is the ESC a new model?

If it is anything like my mini maxx, the gearing selection sucks. It has holes that are supposed to give proper gear mesh when moving up or down on pinion gears. It sucks though, doesn't mesh perfectly, so I left it stock gearing and changed electronics. It's so fast its hardly drivable.

It has the same gear mesh set up as the Mini-Maxx and has a 25-T pinion. I'm glad I kept my Mini-Maxx stock, with the narrow wheel base I knew it wouldn't be drivable at really high speeds. Now with the newly released wide kit it should be more stable.

Change the electronics, I think that is a known fact for the Traxxas stuff.
I see what looks like the VXL-3s

Are the VXL-3S speed controls known for being a bad choice?
Maybe the "new" VXL-3s ESCs are not "built" the same. Cosmetically, it looks different from this...

Meh, I'll just sit back and wait for the reviews to pour in.

On my Mini Maxx, I removed the under sized 3640 motor and 2s esc with its 16 or maybe 18 ga wire. I dropped in a HW 10BL120 and an rcjuice 3650 3100kv. I purchased a Liperior 2s battery that fits perfectly, using a washer under the factory battery holder. It's an insane little truck.
