When I was at my LHS looking into brushless setups, the guy told me that it would cost me well over $300 to go brushless on my mini-t.

One of the things he told me that I "HAD TO HAVE" was an FM receiver/transmitter. I really like my AM losi transmitter, so much so that I chose it to run in the mini-t that I got from rob. I bought an RC18 receiver on 27mhz AM, and a micro spy esc for brushed motors.

So my question is, was he bs'ing me on the need for an FM receiver to run a brushless setup? I'm not competitive, this is a basher for now, and I enjoy my current radio setup. The drive train is pretty much ready for brushless anyway, and what isn't I can more than afford to upgrade so that's not the issue.

I always see the mamba esc/motor combos on ebay for around $95-120. I bought a very well built mini-t from robmob that at the moment I'm learning to drive on with a mini machine termination motor. It is very fast, probably close to 30mph but I can already tell I want more!

Anyway, I love the mini-t and am getting used to the speed and handling of the brushed setup. In the near future I can see me wanting to go brushless.

Thanks for reading

If memory serves correctly, on the Losi mini's, you have to replace the reciever and servo whenever you go brushless.

Besides, it's the perfect excuse to hop up the truck even further.

Right, well I have the RC18 27mhz AM receiver in it with the airtronix servo already. The drive train is completely upgraded as well, the only stock parts are the things that frequently break on impact and are low replacement cost items (eg. chassis set, bulkhead, etc...)

Can a mamba brushless, or any brushless for that matter, run on AM frequency radios or do I have to upgrade? I'm not running the stock esc/rx combo in this mini-t. I have two, one which is remaining stock for indoor kitty tormenting and one that is for outdoor fun.

I've got a Castle Mamba in my RC18, running stock servo and reciever. I'm just too lazy to get an M8 reciever....
