mini lst

i got a mini lst i bought off craigslist not running, the speed control was burnt up, i put a new speed control in it and this one burned up, it was smoking from where the cooling fins are. any ideas on what is causing this?

i put a diffrent speed control in it now thats not the lst one....

checkto make sure you are not cross connecting your wires.

there not, red was red, black was black on everything. it ran good for about a week or 2 with second speed control, i got about 20 runs out of it or so with no problem, then it just started smoking.
