i know this should go in the engines forum but i need quick replies and I'm sure ill get them faster here. sorry for any inconvenience if it has to be moved.

well here goes. i might be able to get a good deal on a used rc10gt with everything aluminum and carbon fiber and stuff. its got a radio and everything.
now, the engine is a megatech m-16. i read some not so good things about this engine when i did a search, but there wasn't much info so i decided to make a thread.
it supposedly puts out 1+ horsepower which should make the truck go fast and all but it seems to be a cheap engine so i dont know if its worth it.

what i would like to know is what is really wrong with this engine (besides it not being as good as an O.S. or whatever, i know that). is it the power, tuning, reliability, why doesn't anyone like it?
for a newb like me i dont think i will need a 200 dollar O.S. or rossie powerplant to get my truck up and running. one day i will invest in those engines however, but not now.

well thanks in advance to whoever can give me some info on this megatech engine.

I have a Megatech engine in a .21. I never used it much, as it is a backup for my buggy, but the little it was run it ran pretty good. At any rate, if the price is right and the GT has a lot of hop-ups and the radio setup then I doubt you can really go wrong. This is assuming it is in decent shape or better and doesn't require a lot of repairs. Engines, even OS, can be gotten for around $100. At one time I bought two .12 engines at a track for $75. Both were just broken in with new pistons/sleeves and one even had an extra piston & sleeve. One of the guys was getting out of nitro and going all electric (go figure....).
Look at what you are getting for whatever price and compair that to what it would cost you to purchase the stuff new, then decide if it is worth the cost.

hey I saw that engine on e-bay new for 50$,something about store overstock?anyway I was wondering the same,I've never heard of it and they said it was a direct fit to the T-MAXX and a drastic inprovement in power??? Id like to hear more about it:radio:

They gave the engine an excelent review, 50$ sounds like a good deal!!! Thanks for the link

i would not recommend it. i have went through 2 of them and they work like poop. they do not break in easily, and they are not the easiest things to tune either. plus this last one that i had i had just gotten done braking it in and the piston rod broke. i did everything right it said to do in the instruction manual. these motors are not the best things out there. if i were u i would go and get an O.S or something like that. may be a little bit more money but it is better than having ur truck sit there and do nothing.

lol, Horse power isn't what makes the car got fast, it;s the RPM, the higer rpm the faster the car will go. What you can do is take a engine with high HP and low rpm and change the geering to turn the power into speed but it ain't the same.
