When you pull up to the drive in at some Mc Donald's restraints and give your order, there may not be any one around.

I was just reading an article that says they are experimenting with using call centers to handle drive up orders. I have a hard enough time with tech support on my computer and now...... I'm I going to have to try and explain what I want on my hamburger to someone who believes a cow is sacred?

They can't get my order correct now, I can't imagine if some nut job is taking my order from a place other than the resturant!

From what I read, there are around 100 of them already doing it.
They have cut their manpower from 300 employees (3 shifts) to less then 100.
Now the call enter is in Denver. You know if the program takes off and all the restraints are on it that it will go over seas.

12 hours a day @ 8.00 per hour is 36,500 per year. Not including taxes or Workers compensation lets bump up the figure to 45,000 a year.
If their cost is cut in half thats a lot of profit. then cut that in half again going over seas, it isn't hard to see why there looking at it. Not that I agree with it but its all about the numbers.

I don't eat MC D's any way.....any one watch supersize me?
I havn't eaten that crap in 6 years...I stopped at one a dec 1 when I was on the road to disney for my daughter's B-Day.....she begged me for MC Donalds we had to cancel the day and go back the following week cause I got so sick from that stuff...it's not food it's filled w/ grub worms...USDA approved grub worms too......I can eat super spicey foods and really weird stuff and not get sick so I know i don't have a weak stomache......I can eat wendy's once in a while but only their chicken sandwiches......down here we have this awsome "fast food" rest. called pollo tropical that's what I eat for fast food....chicken rice and beans that's like the whole menu.....

Damn, I hate dealing overseas call centers. Leave it to McD's to start heading things in that direction. Too bad the last CEO just passed away a couple weeks ago, I think he was going to turn the company around, as he started heading things in that direction. Not everyone is an In N Out burger though. I could live on those freakin things!

I wish I could get an In N Out burger right about now! Its been almost a year since I've had one!

You'll NEVER see me at a McDonald's. In the 80s, my cousin in Connecticut had built up a burger business to 3 separate places. Sit down, walk up, or car hop service. Very popular in out of the way small towns. He had them for about 3 years.
When the businesses got really good, Mac D built within a quarter of a mile from each of his 3 places, and put him out of business in less than 6 months.
Corporate greed at it's worst. When he closed his last one, I promised him I would NEVER spend a cent at McDonald's EVER.

Thats the only Fast Food I will eat. In and Out has got to be the absolute best FF burger available.

Not only do they have a drive up but most of the time they have a real human come to your window and take your order.

I was in CA last week for work and I picked up In N Out (two double double meals just for me), anyway talking to a guy in the elevator he says to me as I get out "you guys enjoy," I looked back and said guys? this is all for me!

I don't think McD's can compete with In N Out in CA. What I can't see is that almost every McD's you go into is a pigsty and don't order anything special cause it takes them two or three times to get it right. Try telling Johnny 5 they screwed up your sacred cowburger and they have to throw it away.

i dont eat macdonalds. i did eat at a little shop in phoenix that i fell in love with. seems like it was called "whataburger"??? i ate at that place for a week straight and had absolutely nothing else.

I'm surprised noone has mentioned white castle. i drive about two hours (one way) at least once every two months for some jalapeno burgers there.

there are some services in which 1 on 1 contact means something. Food service industry is certainly one of them. this is a bogus idea in my mind.

Thank you, wannarunem, and my cousin thanks you. I just want McDonalds to know that 20 years after screwing my cousin with their corportate greed, I'm still bad mouthing them, and ALWAYS will.
I'm still hoping that someone else comes along and does to them what they went out of their way to do to EVERY private burger business they could find.

It is said when some of the really small towns across the country get all excited because they are getting a McDonald's (or worse IMO) Wal-Mart. I dated this girl when I was in college from a very small farm town in Central IL and she was saying how excited everyone in town was that a McDonalds was opening, ugh!

DOWN with McD......I di a report in 8th grade on the nutritional value of their food and even back then it was crap...I only fear how much worse it has gotten....and they DO use grub worms as a main ingredient in their "beef".....I don't see them as lasting too long in their current state anyway...maybe another 10 yrs if they keep going the way they are....everyone is getting smarter as to what they eat....and I think they are going to end up strictly a ghetto food chain soon......
