I installed Maverick's sway bar kit on the Microbe SCT today. TINY parts and no instructions. Luckily, I had already purchased a set of extra-small hex wrenches... I had to use the 1.3mm and .9mm wrenches to get the job done. The kit came with two sets of sway bars. I installed the thinner, milder set. They seem to have reduced traction rolling on the rug indoors. I haven't tried them out in the driveway yet.

I was cleaning up the little truck before doing the work on it and just now noticed the metal flake in the deep blue paint on the body. What a neat little rig!

As I have been looking more into this little rig, I see that it is made by Hobby Plus, and they are offering the same SCT and buggy but with different colors/liveries. Same price as the Maverick for either option. Definitely a competitor of the Losi Micro B and T... of which I have both (so why not also get the HP "Speck SCT" or Maverick Microbe SC right?)

Have you driven it since the sway bar install? How does handle now?

When the Losi Micro-B buggy first caught my eye, I was poking around the 'net and I saw the competing 1/24 buggies from HobbyPlus and Maverick. Although the HobbyPlus Speck-B and Maverick Microbe models seemed identical, there were some subtle differences. The one I can think of is the chassis shape.

I think the same situation exists with the Speck-SCT and Maverick Microbe SC. I think the only difference is the chassis and most of the parts are interchangeable. Quality, price, parts availability, etc. seem on par.

The sway bar installation seems to provide a nice improvement in handling. Previous to adding them, I could traction roll on my living room rug. Now, it seems more resistant... I can actually max out the steering and do donuts on the rug. I don't think this was possible previously. This is all based on memory...

Eventually, I'll mount the stiffer sway bars and see if I prefer them to the thin ones. I'll also see if it's possible to run it after disconnecting them so I can do a better comparison of their overall effectiveness.

I have a hunch that I'll eventually end up adding the brushless version of one of these SCTs to my fleet. They do seem overpowered but it's easy enough to turn down the throttle DR when the speed isn't needed. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the brushed version.
