Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help out here, my missus has tasked me with the the job of writing a manual for her, to do with nitro r/c vehicles. Its mainly due to the fact shes got purple hands (in other words, she's a tight wad who doesn't like spending money on things she knows i can get for free (like information or write out a short manual for something), or spending money out for someone to do something i can do). In all fairness, she has been the financier for most of my recent "Projects" and Hobbies, with the bill getting into the thousands after a few short months. Hence, i HAVE to do this to keep her happy and its something i will learn from at the same time (with any luck)

I know a little bit, but NOT EVERYTHING and i am the first to admit that fact.

What i need is any advice, hints, tips, shortcuts etc in the following areas (well, any area concerning rc nitro vehicles)

Choosing your nitro rc vehicle (like what types there are and the various pro's and cons to each type)
how to set up your R/c nitro vehicle before running (checks etc)
Running your RC Nitro Vehicle fr the first time (Fuels, glow plugs, etc)
how to maintain your RC nitro Vehicle
Recommended "Upgrades" for your RC Nitro Vehicle (Failsafes, factory upgrades etc)

Light maintenance
Full rebuilds
After market spares
Basic tools

And so on and so forth.

All the advice/hints/tips etc will be appreciated greatly, and, if i get enough, i will pool it together in a file and make it available for dowload to RCNT Members only.

Heya plaidfish,

Didnt you read the bit about my missus being a tight wad ? she refuses to buy ANY book on the subject, she wants me to write a manual as she sais she KNOWS she will be able to understand it easily.

Thanks for the link above that to the book though, will prove useful

one of rcnt's finest just started a thread for tips and tricks for rc noobs.. go check it out also

it as for engine tuning and especially rebuilding a engine its all up to u and how much u want to spend i mean you can buy a new piston and sleeve or buy a whole new engine, also there are tons of sites and magazines with stuff on how to tune engines and all i used to have a link to a good site but i forgot it, but there is endless facts and infor for stuff in this hobby, one big factor that changes alot is what car and how much money your willing to spend, there are tons of modes to do on different cars heres something that you may be looking for https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7217

well logic can beat tight wadd any day....
"honey poo, If I get this $25 book and read it, I won't have to spend $100 having my car fixed when it breaks....because I can do it my self" smile and pat her on the head peck on the cheek.....and watch for the flying pan to the face cause she sounds tough...

Be sure to include a bit about how Dr. Phil strongly suggests a hobby you enjoy to cut back the day to day stress level. This will in-turn reduce the chance of possible costly therapy visits and wife beating!

Flying pans ? costly therapy ?

I think you guys are Miles off, my missus prefers throwing MY stuff about, last night, my tamiya mni took a flying lesson, all £350 of it (including mods), no damage though cos it landed on my desk chair which i had my sleeping bag on "Just in case" i spent the night on the settee, not to mention most of my hornby train collection. At no less than £100 a piece it could have been expensive had i not caught any of them !!!

I will look at the links guys, but i know that "Sweet talking" my missus dont work, and i will NOT stoop to that level either. lol

lol ever heard of Anger Managment, you outta look into it.

Anger management ? thats a good one, last time i mentioned that, i had to go out for the day to avoid a major ear bashing !! what she didnt know, is that i needed to make "an excuse" to take my buggy out racing for the day instead of sitting on my butt watching telly, hence the mention of "anger management" !!

Besides, she is half greek and the temper on her is unbeleivable. Her form of "Anger management" is throwing things!!!

My form of anger management to deal with her would include an entire roll of duct tape, A tennis ball, and a string of fake pearls.

eddy you must get all the chicks....do you drive a white astrovan w/ no windows and dark tint?

My first wife had anger issues and would let loose of whatever was in her hand without regard for what it was or where it would end up. Its no way to live. It boiled down to respect. Someone who will try to cause pain on someone to get their point across has issues that I'm not willing to deal with.

Did I also mention my first wife had bad eye site? She couldn't tell the difference between me every other guy in the neighborhood. Violence in any relationship is just not right.

So she was like the community bicycle? Everybody got a turn? ;)

There is something about chicks with anger issues. They know how to go off. Sex seems to be just as intense as the fighting. IMO its not worth it in the long run.

Bicycle, no.....
Try an airport bar stool. What can I say? I was 18 and one stupid mofo. Even he mom warned me. 25 years later and shes one worn out hag and still has anger issues.

yeah but you know when you were spinning on that stool, all the blood wasn't being used in the correct organ huh? or was it?

err..........correct me if i am wrong here but....is thisnot supposed to be a thread toenable me to gain information for a Manual" for my Missus???

as for my missus, her ex husband beatthe living $ hit out of her, now she has a problem dealing with it, so ihave toput up withit and try to help her. she is better now than she was when we first got together six years ago, thats for darn sure.

sorry to hear that...and yes this is the thread you described...sorry for getting off topic.....check out Ed's new site for manuals...you should be able to get all the info you want from there.....
