Hey Guys,

Yesterday I finally got my 1/8 scale buggy running well. I know it was probably only for that day... you know for every good day you have three bad ones... but man I was hooked up last night. That RG X with a JP1 purred like a kitten. It was running about 230 and the dust was flying. My driving still needs a little work... ok alot of work, but I was having a blast. The buggy is an XTerm Pro and that thing flies like a bird over the doubles, and table top. I know some will read this and wonder why I am posting, but I am just thrilled to death I had a good day at the track. Those of you who my know who I am ( I know, I doubt anyone knows who I am) from earlier posts regarding the troubles I was having getting my RG X tuned know my frustrations... so I am just beside myself! I finally got right. Now I can start to focus on my driving and not having to worry about the damn thing cutting out on me every time I hit the brakes! Man I didn't even have to blip the throttle when the thing was on its lid. That was cool! I do have one question though.... When it idles for a bit and you hit the gas hard, is it supposed to be sluggish at first? Thanks

Glad to hear you had a good day!!

Sluggish after idle? Yep, the engine loads up a little, just gotta let it clear its throat.

Good deal. I was just curious. Thanks for the info Mr T! It runs really great once you burp it a bit. Man I just can't tell you how great a time I had last night. I hated for the sun to go down! We need a lighted track!

Thanks Dig! I am telling you the way that X Term performed last night was well worth all the agravation and headaches it took to get there. I turned some heads last night, thats for sure. Second points race of the season starts Saturday, so we shall see how it goes. Good luck with the track up there!

No doubt! If I had 23 hours of daylight and a decent off road track, my family would never see me again......

Tom, that is why we get so addicted to this hobby. The tuning thing eventually comes more natural to most of us. The break-in period is always the most unpredictable. On my V-Spec powered buggy it took forever to break-in but once it was after 2-3 lazy eights around the street, the motor purred and poured out the power.

Hey Revo,

Tell me about it. I am learning more an more every time I go out and run. I just wish I had more time to spend doing it. I don't know how all of you guys married with children do have so much time to spare! LOL You guys need to share your secrets! It takes time to learn to tune, and by no means do I consider myself an expert, but I am learning a little more each time. Between all the help I get here, the guy at my LHS has gone out of his way to help me as well. If I didn't have the bug, I do now, and now my goal is to see just how many races I can win! LOL

Tom

Hey T-Maxx
Thinking hard about trying a track. May have to take ya up on it. Right now I am fouled up with work, my house and life in general. Hope to get on one soon. The guys that are making one here have the "LHS." It is 10 minutes away but I won't shop there. Figure their track is going to suck too. I drive an hour and half to Tazewell for fuel and parts. (Gizmo's has a track, but haven't seen it)

Do most of the tracks have times you can just go out and have fun?
Do ya have a yearly club dues to pay? Or do ya pay whenever ya go?
How many channels should I have if I decide to race?

Never seen this talked about. Thanks for the help. Kenneth

Hey Digger,

If you are going to race, I would bring at least 2 sets of crystals, maybe even 4. At least that is what most folks at my local track carry. Just depends on how many folks race at your track. I took some advice from folks on this site and bought a synthisized system and that way I don't have to worry about crystals. It cost a few pennys more but it was worth it. Now as far a dues for tracks, at least at my track on don't pay unless I race, and I can practice for free anytime there isn't a race going on. Even if the LHS is closed I can practice. It is just like a golf course... you tear up the track you fix it. That's it. I am sure each track is different though.

Hey Dig... so when does the Mammoth ST come in?....

Tom

Thanks guys. Life kinda busy right now. Hope to try a track soon though.

Tom, I posted an update on the "other monster trucks" part of the forum. Shipping the ST now. Figure mine will be in the end of next week?
