thought water would short circuit them but obviously not
never done anything with electric motors though I'm a nitro fan and will stay that way

I've tried the water method to break in the motor. It's basically so that the debris is out of the motor as you break it in so it doesn't ruin the connection of the brush and the comm. The important thing is that you after you do forward and reverse for 15 minutes each (With two different glasses of water), you have to open it up and dry everything, or it'll rust. I know from experience.

take a hot air dryer to it then spray a ton of wd 40 on it. will that work or not

That may work but I wouldn't do it at the same time. :whhooo: things could get a bit firey. :flamer:

too much wd40 will be more rotating mass on armature and i think would just make a mess of things, the blowdryer is a good idea though.

also, i would like to know if this is only for a brand new never ran motor or if you can break in a already used electric motor this way?

I have done it to several motors and if there is a difference in performance it's not something I noticed by eye but a stop watch might show a very slight difference....Not worth the trouble IMO.

i have a stock slash motor and its working just fine. might try that brake in methed
