i was about to buy some losi shocks for my mini-t but the dude there said i should try and find ones with a bladder cause the losi shocks tend to leak. he also said a few of the locals knew of a way to prevent it from leaking. i figured id ask the powers that be and see what they have to say.

any oppinions or comments?

My mini t has the aluminum upgrade shocks that are in question. Just make sure that you tighten then down snug or they will leak.

where do you tighten them up at, my mini giants shocks 2 of them...ar leaking at the bottom. I just have no idear what to tighten

If they are threaded shocks this is what I do; remove the shock, take a small crecent wrench and tighten down on the shock end, hold the shock shaft in the other hand and twist. Just make sure that you do not over tighten it. You can also use a small screw driver inserted through the shock end.

Are you talking about the upper shock end? They seem almost exactly like the mini-t shocks and probably are minus the mounting, mine have captured ends.

I thought they were leaking form around the shaft, but thinking about it they are the end that's facing down it makes sense the gravity would make the oil leak down lol

If you're using the Losi Mini-T Racing Shock Set (#LOSB1110), they have had a reputation as leakers. However, they can be fixed easily. I am running them right now. If you bought them new, there is a simple thing to do before you assemble them. Feel around the bevel on the bottom of the shock body. You may feel a little mold burr. Just smooth that off with some extremely fine sandpaper. Then, when you go to assemble the shocks, add a second seal to the threaded section. As you tighten the shock cartridge into the body, make sure the seals stay aligned and don't pop out in one place. Then make sure you tighten them down good and they should not leak. Worst case scenario? Use 1 wrap of teflon tape on the threads. That will solve it, too. Even though they have a rep for leaking, with a tiny bit of work you can get them sealed up just fine. And they are a huge improvement over the stockers. And better than a lot of other aftermarket shocks out there.

Did all that and they still leak!

Don't be afraid to really tighten them down. It does take a little time and perseverence with some of them. I had one shock that I had to build 3 times before it would seal up nice.

One of the front shocks on my mini t leaked until I tightened it down. Finger tight plus approximately one full turn.

bought the losi mini t shocks yesterday and installed them lastnight. mine dont appear to be leaking at all. ran it alot today on a dirt road and the car has a butt load of dirt on it and around the shock bodies. the dirt wipes away easily and doesn't appear to be contaminated with oil from shock leakage. for you guys who have had leaky shocks.. did it leak from the get go or did it develop a leak over time?

also installed this motor today http://www.stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/seekpart.pl?pn=ORN20902&showbig=6809
man what a BIG difference. its no brushless by any means but i honestly think a brushless is a little much for my skills right now. also couldnt pass up the price :devious:
