ok, I bought my son a Team Losi Muggy. after break in, the clutch bell bearing came apart and locked up the clutch. So i replaced the bearings, and the first time out they came apart again... so i replaced them again and THEY ARE TRASHED AGAIN... first tank.. i have an aluminum clutch in it, any advice would be great.. iv been having to let him drive my Eight-T because his is down.. any ideas??

Chris

The muggy is overgeared out of the box, and this is probably causing the clutch to slip. Try putting in a 12T bell.

Is there any play if you slide the bell towards and away from the engine? You should get about .5mm of movement. If you don't, then it's shimmed too tight and is making the bearings bind when they heat up and swell a bit.

Is your gear mesh good? Too tight of gear mesh can put undue side load stress on the CB which will kill the bearings as well.

What brand/kind of bearings are you replacing them with?

I thought the same until I saw my buddies run his beyond break-in. It has quite a bit of snap off the line for as fast as the top speed is.

mesh is good. I'm not sure on the brand of bearings, i got them from my LHS, ill have to check.. i heard these things are having clutch problems because the chasis flexes...and are soon to be selling a new.. more rigid chasis to correcti it... i dont know. i think I'm going to try an Eight T clutch, and a 12 tooth

I just had a similar experience with my LST2. I'm very new to all this but its my understanding that these two share a lot of the same components, the 427 engine for sure. After the second set I ordered up some Dynamite bearings that are listed as compatible and while waiting for those to arrive I went to my LHS and found out that Traxxas clutch bearing are the same so I threw those in and they've been fine so the Dynamite's are spare now.
Dynamite bearing

:sorry: Sorry I don't have the part # for the traxxas ones, good luck

edit: they do use the same clutch bearings LOSA6937
Pretty sure the Traxxas one I used were TRA4609

you may want to look into a expensive set of bearings!

this happens in my aftershock all the time!

you can go buy some XTM bearing which surprisingly are pretty good!

or you can go buy the ledgendary everlasting bocca bearing kit
