This is gonna sound stupid, but are 4" Losi cralwer shocks actually 4 inches eye center to eye center? :\

I ordered a set and want an idea how much ride height I'm gonna lose, as I could do with dropping a bit as my new suspension geom. has pumped my chassis up way too high. 3.75" is too much on a shafty, trust me :hehe:

I'm not sure man but i only run 2" of clearance so I'm sure 3.75 is way too high lol. is this for your new project?

The Losi shocks are shorter than the stock Axial shocks if you use the shock ends that come with them.

I want to say they are about 1/4" to 3/8" shorter, but I didn't actually measure.

Yeh it's for my new build. I haven't altered the wheelbase/the lower links. I have altered the shock mounts (to the only place I can get the Axials to mount) which makes em a lot more vertical. I've also goofed with the upper links mounting points to improve the pinion angles to stop em dragging. The combination of the latter 2 has obviosly screwed something as I was running just a touch over 2.5" before!!

I measured my Losi's out at 4.5" eye to eye. 4" is, obviously, .5" shorter. Even that ain't enough.

By the sounds of it I'm gonna have to go back to the drawing board and play with the upper links and see where I can put my shocks when I get the Losis.

have you tried semi droop?

No, and I'd be overjoyed to give it a go sometime, but I have a comp on Sunday and I have to get this rig to kiss the ground a bit better before the weekend :) The Losis should be here Friday if I remember to ring and pay for them tomorrow.

Meanwhile I'm gonna goof with the setup and see if I can move it about a bit. See if I can get it back closer to the stock setup on the new chassis.

Got em through today and you guys weren't kidding when you said they are shorter than the stock ones :) They are also much narrower tubes.

Oddly, it might just save my bacon, as it'll solve 2 problems in one pass on my rig, the ride height and the problems I'm having with the upper links binding against the shock tubes.

They look like a quality part though, really nicely made. Makes me want to run out and buy a Losi truck ;)

Only Question: Are the spring adjuster nuts always REALLY tight to spin on when you first get em? I know they have a rubber O-ring in to stop em wandering up and down the thread, but I didn't want to force them and break something.

Such a snug fit 2 of them take pliers to adjust them :\

Still all assembled... can I just also add here for people's reference that the top bushes and bottom ball joints are NOT suitable for M3 stock (standard on Axials) - I had to put Axial ends on the bottom and make do with using a loose ball joint ball in the top as a bush.

Great shocks though, I like how they combined the cap and shaft, that solveses my other issue with my Axials popping the caps off (and for the record the caps on mime were TIGHT and they still popped off). They sorted my problem even thought I did have to add some fuel tube (supplied in the kit - thumbs up again Losi :D).

I've got a 2.5" clearance under the belly and it'll stand on the side of the wheels so the balance is spot on too. Axle pinions are sitting a few mm above my delrin links so shouldn't drag.

Pictures to follow in the build thread, thanks for all the good advices!

sounds sweet Mark.....and yes pics!

All in good time my dear fellow :)

She's sat on my workbench on my wheelbase gauge (and happily well inside 12.5"). I'll take some pics tomorrow morning before I got test her on the test course.

If you want to improve the losi shocks drastically, pick up HPI partnumber 85050 (I think, thats from memory so I'm not positive). The spring perches are A LOT better and fit perfect on the Losis, and the rod ends will give you more length if you need them. It's just a few bucks, and the difference is drastic. Check out my GC2 build for comparison shocks. They're such good parts, I have three new sets sitting on the shelf just in case lol.
