I have a Losi 8T, have put it through it's break in, and have put about a gallon of fuel through it. My question is:

-When it is sitting idle, and I mash the gas to full throttle, it does NOT jump off the line and go..... it takes of slowly. But when its up in the rpm's, it has no problem accelerating.

WHAT IS WRONG HERE??

Is this normal with this truck?

What does the engine do when you peg the throttle off the line? Does it rev up or does it dog? What kind of temps are you running?

After a gallon of running, it definitely wouldn't hurt to tear your engine out and clean the clutch shoes with a mild sand paper and inside your bell where it rubs. That would cause excess slippage which may give you the symptoms your having.

Thats what I was thinking, but I bump the throttle at idle to eliminate this.... I don't let it sit at idle for more than a few seconds.

Someone at my LHS said that the RTR version of the 8T didn't come with all 4 clutch shoes, only two. Is this correct?

At idle, my temps were around 190, and after a couple of high speed runs, it would be up around 230-240.

Now I did install an oversized cooling head, and my temp got up to 290 on sunday, which is weird since it is a "cooling" head.

But this acceleration issue has been there since I got the truck

You are lean on the HSN and rich on the LSN. The engine should be able to idle for at least 8 seconds without loading up.

I only have actual experience with the muggy. I was surprised how well it got up and went off the line beings it's a single speed and is also relatively fast on the top end.

Still, it can't hurt to take a look at your clutch. If your not opposed to loosing a bit of top speed, you could also drop your CB 1 tooth if ones available. That should help with your low end. May actually give you better top end as it lets the engine wind out a bit more when under stress.

WOW.... I thought that I had it tuned right. It will idle for a good while without dying..... just really doggy when I peg the throttle off the line.

I will try to re-tune it this week... but if it all goes bad, what is the best way to start over..... I had a guy at the LHS help me tune it when I got it.... still green in Nitro.

Is there a tuning guide for the 8T?

Sounds from your description Scrogg is right. Try turning the low end screw "IN" about 1/8 turn & screw the high end "OUT" 1/8 turn. You may have to do this a couple of times. That should help take off & the high temps. About your clutch ,The RTR truggy comes with 4 shoes & the RTR buggy 2. I have several here at my track & those engines run really well & are pretty easy to tune. I run the 8T pro & love it!
