Just wondering I have been seeing the Losi 454 engine listed for sale with captions saying it is the same as the LRP .28 engine is this true. Because the Losi engines are way better price.

From what I've read and understand the 454 is basically a relabeled LRP .28. Just as the hpi f4.6 is basically the same mill as the ofna force .28

I'm not sure if the internals are the same, but the starter isn't and the dual starter is garbage on those. A buddy of mine tried selling me a savage with that engine with a box of parts... there were 5 or 6 of the starters in the box... he only ran a gallon or so through the engine.

I'll stick with my LRP's. :)

I've been told on multiple occasions that my Losi 454 is a rebadged LRP .28 spec 3. that being said I can't say myself for certain. The engine itself is a pretty good engine though for the money. The stock pull/rotostart combos are junk although I've only broken 1 of them after a gallon or so of fuel. If this one breaks Ill be looking for a roto start only back plate for mine.

i bought my revo with a lrp .28,when that engine went south i got the Losi 454 its the same block not sure about the amount of ports ,I read that the lrp has a little more grunt on take off, THe pull start / roto start on the losi is a pain luckily my lrp had a roto start so i used it.My revo now wheelies all day with the 454. From what i heard the LRp.28,losi 454 ,xtm.28 .dynamite 28 and sh engines are all the same

Yah I figured this out a while back. I purchased the LRP .30 zr spec2 engine for my project truck.

Internally they are the same, but like mentioned the starters and also the carbs are different; but either can be switched back and forth between the two.
