Is 1/14 scale a good size to run with like backyard and grassy location?
The bigger the better!

We talking putting greens or umanicured lawn? Lol if my mower isn’t set close to the lowest setting, my 1/10 scales have trouble getting around

No, 1/10 would be the minimum I would recommend for driving on grass

Biggest issue with smaller scale cars are durability with electronics and long term maintenance costs making them more or less disposable rather being able to properly maintain due to limited parts selection, etc...

If you're on a tight budget then I would start out with a BOOST:

The perfect beginner backyard basher 😍

What kind of kit are you looking at? Buggy, truggy, monster truck, short course truck or ?

I agree with the others that 1/14 would be a bit small for anything other than really short grass. Although, if your grass looks like what we have here at my apartment, with a lot of clover and other small weeds mixed in, it might do ok. We have a couple 1/12 scale buggies and they do ok on grass, but they are much better in dirt or on pavement. But even a 1/14 monster truck with big tires will likely struggle a bit in grass.

Great thinking! Probably since its has big tires and lift? I don't know. Has anybody else had one of these?
I have one and the slash. 2 or 3 inch is OK. Grass taller than that is where it becomes an anchor. Ofcourse mine was a pavement, mud, and dirt runner, it didn't do too bad in grass. Ofcourse the shorter the better. The summit can also run 2.2 stadium wheels. I used traxxs rustler wheels and Proline dirt hawg or dirt paws.

My only complaint would be the tiny 370 overheating in the grass. I shaped to a 540 real fast to fit my driving.

Looks like arrma studied the hpi savage for a bit. 😐

Guy that cuts my grass cuts it pretty short.. plus the park above my house has very short grass ..just wanting my daughter to have fun and enjoy driving...but she's gotta learn not to keep hitting her mom and my feet 😂

Again not sure what your budget is, but I know some of those Ali trucks can get pretty close to Arrma and traxxas prices. If your budget allows it, I would really recommend something from the Arrma boost or mega series. You can pick up a Gorgon Fully RTR battery and all at a great price. The gorgon will be perfect for running around the yard, but not fast enough that it will kill your feet 😝 Tower hobbies also has a 20% off coupon code running right now for members ($9.99/year for a membership) and 15% off for members pretty much year round. So you’d be paying pretty close to Ali prices for a much higher quality truck with extensive parts availability. My experience with the Ali trucks is that parts aren’t as durable, and when they do break you have to order them from china and wait 2 weeks. Your local hobby shop will most likely carry almost every replacement part for a gorgon.

The Granite Boost that Bill mentioned is also a beast of a truck, but with a little higher price tag. With that higher price tag you get a truck that can be upgraded to 4x4, whereas the gorgon is limited to 2wd.

Not to mention that converting an Arrma boost chassis to another style is fairly easy and not too expensive. I converted my Granite Boost into a Big Rock 3s, and then into a Typhon 3s with parts from JennysRC.com

Oh yeah. I forgot you have a golf course for a park lol. Yeah, if the grass remains that nice, you would have no problem running a 14th scale on that.

What about an Arrma Grom? Everyone is raving about them. The Grom Mojave's look like awesome little trucks. I bet your daughter would love it. Buy a clear body and paint one up with her with her favorite colors. The Typhon Grom is a buggy, so if you're dead set on another buggy, that may be an option. The Grom's are 1/18, so even smaller than what you're looking at. But I think they would run good at that park.

Just an idea. A lot of people enter this hobby buying RC's off Amazon, banggood, and aliexpress, and quickly find out when they break, parts availability becomes an issue. With brands like Arrma and Traxxas, you can simply pop down to a local hobby shop and grab the parts. If that's not an option, most parts can be found on Amazon, Amain Hobbies, or Horizon hobbies, and will arrive in just a few days.

If you want help deciding, let us know what your budget is and we can toss some ideas at ya.

I’ve got the revo version; I jump it into grass and it drives out on it’s own, but maybe I’ll transform it into a mini Summit.
I wish I could still get a 1/8 summit…
