Hey Guys,

I am looking to purchase two Werks clutches for my CRT and my CR buggy. I am new to this kind of clutch but I have read that they are far superior to the alumunium three shoe clutch that comes stock. My question is, How do I know what model will work for my .30 in the CRT and the .21 VSpec that will be going in my buggy? Also what pads should I get, Carbon, Rulon, or Teflon? I must admit I am a bit confused as to what I need, but I figured I could find the answer here. Thanks in advance guys.

hey Tom, hope your homeynoom was all it was supposed to be....
I believe the size is just one size......the shoes are similar to the way carbon/teflon/aluminum shoes for standard clutches, so you should probably try a few sets to see what you like for the clutch engagement......carbon seems to be the shoes of choice for them here....

Thank you Plaid... There were a few models on the site, I just wanted to make sure. I was on the right track.

The Honeymoon was absolutely wonderful..... all that it should have been and more! LOL

I emailed Werks to find out if the flywheel diamters are different. I believe they are, since there are models specific to monster trucks and buggy. I know my Werks MT flywheel does not work with a bump start engine on my MP 7.5 chassis. My chassis was originally intended for use with a pullstart so that may be the issue.

Regardless I'll post here what I find out from Werks.

Cool.... I am not sure wether or not the CRT would be considered an MT or a Buggy... I was not sure if the clutch was vehicle specific or mill specific. I definitely want to make sure it will work with the bump box too. Thanks for the info.

Werks never got back to me but after perusing their site here is what I found.

Werks WRX6501
4-shoe Adjustable Off-Road Racing Clutch System with Carbon Shoes and 3 Clutch Springs

size is 35m diameter

Werks WRX6521
This is the same as our WRX6501 Clutch without the dust shield behind the flywheel. This allows the flywheel to mount to any of today's larger cased engines found in most RTR Monster Trucks. Ideal for your MGT, Savage or TNX. 35mm diameter

Werks WRX6531
This Clutch is expressly designed for the new XB8 from Xray or any off-road vehicle with a lowered engine. It is the same as our traditional WRX6501 clutch but with a smaller diameter. 33mm diameter

I would measure your current flywheel with a caliper and run with the same size from werks.

chances are you'll need the 33mm.....I don't think any newer Buggy/Truggy RCs use the older flywheel size...unless you have replaced the new engine mounts w/ the older taller engine mounts......

According to the local guru's at my LHS... the regualar 1/8 scale off road clutch should work with what I am running. This is coming from a phone call to Werks. I guess we shall see here shortly. I am picking them up tonight.
