Hey all,

I'm looking for some info on the MBX5T, the non-prospec. Is the regular version still strong? Is there any prospec parts I would need right away? Are any tires included in the kit? And, would I be able to fit a pullstart Picco .28 in it without too much of a problem? Anything else I should know about it?

Thanks.

I'm ordering the Prospec version probably today or tomorrow. Don't know a whole lot about the standard version, so you may want to see what Jetmech says, as he's the one that walked me through the differences between the two.

One piece engine mount, captured hinge pins and the steering ackerman are the must have's. The stock plastic braces are rather beefy and actually what many of the team guys used at the Nats. I personally have not run them to tell the difference. I believe the kit come with Crimefighters and the stock body is a little thin but works til you get something else. The basic kit is just about as good, IMO.

Sounds good. How sure are you that it comes with Crimefighters? LOL I'm on a pretty tight budget.

I know the prospec comes with crime fighters and rims...The reg MBX should say if it does or does not come with them..

And as for the P/S.I don't think the engine mounts. That come with it will allow for a P/S mill. They are to low..
I have never seen a MBX with a P/S in it before..

What price have you found for the MBXT???
Nitro house has the pro for $590

I second that. I have tried many different mounts. Even shimmed the pullstart backplate gets inn the way.Or i would have kept my old one.

Yea I was planning on shimming the engine mounts. I don't see anything about tires for either kit on their site...

Actually after I posted that I realized it wouldn't say there, the US kits are the only ones that include tires and a body, the ones for outside the US include something else but not tires. Call Amain, nitrohouse, or Carolina's and ask them.

Ok sounds good, I was planning on ordering from Amain anyway, they have it for $445 I believe, that a good price?

yeah, the three I mentioned are in the same range within a couple dollars. They should have free shipping on that. Do you have the codes? The new one should be out any day if you can hold out, will get you another $30. Sign up for the newsletter.

I don't have any codes, I will sign up for the newsletter, thanks for the info.

Well I emailed amain about the tires, and they said that it comes with proline tires, I would assume the Crimefighters. I also emailed Mugen themselves with no answer as of yet. I also got that code, it'll get me $25 off, so I'm basically getting it for $420, sounds like a decent deal to me.

Now I will be building this in my dorm, and am bring all oils I need, Hudy 1.5, 2, and 2.5mm hex drivers, a Hudy phillips screw driver some needle noes pliars, and a letherman thing with some knifes if needed (shhh don't tell anyone), is there anything else I am forgetting I will need to build it as far as tools? I've built many kits before, just wanna make sure I don't forget something and be stuck halfway through the build.

I'll be using my JR XR3i radio, with HS-5645MG and HS-5625MG servos, the Picco .28, Ofna 053 pipe, and the crime fighters tires, should give me a decent rig.

I think it comes with some dif oils and a bottle of 400 shock oil which is about 37 in AE fluids. Any other allen keys come with it so you should be good. Either use the knife or get a good hobby knife to cut the left over flashing off the parts when you break em off the tree, the Mugen stuff doesn't break off as clean as others.

Yea I've got a really nice letherman with some very sharp knives, should do the trick. I've got 40 wt AE oil, and 3,5,7 diff oils.

Oh don't forget your CA for the tires, comes with em, but they are not glued. Also before you Monkey Wrench me, you don't have to glue the brake pads on the caliper like it says, we've been running floaters without issue.
