Hey all!

This is my first VP. I was looking to try a different brand after being disappointed with the latest trail truck I had added to my fleet.

Immediately I was extremely impressed with the capabilities right out of the box! It climbed very well!!

The other day I put a set of SSD Assassin wheels I have that are around a decade old with some Vanquish hubs (750 brass up front, 850 light weight) in the back. I am considering putting the 850 brass I have up front for a little more weight.

I was expecting it to perform leaps and bounds better but the performance gains weren't perceptible to me.

Anyway, I am finding it extremely top heavy and possibly has a little to much weight rear.
Unfortunately I don't have scales.

Here are my thoughts;

Step one, trim down the electronics and battery.
I have a CC SW3 and CC BEC on one side and using the battery tray with a 2850mah 3s pack.

I have a heavier new hand wound motor that I would like to put in and a tiny micro ESC, probably reuse the CC BEC. Then for batteries I have smaller 3s packs I can run on the other rail.

Do you think I should remove the tray?
Can I remove it?

I want to try it before making any further changes after that.

But then the body, it's clearly very, very heavy!!

I want to make this my performance focused rig for local comps.

Does someone have a thread or ideas they could share with me?

Thanks,

CQC

Vanquish rigs are said to be very heavy there isn't really a way around that unless you gut all the scale features? IDK I don't have one. You can probably remove that tray, run the smallest battery you have. The next step is tires and inserts my friend; you need to test some tires and find out what does best in your terrain. I have gone away from the foams, I like the TPU printed inserts, you can get them from various places or print them from a file if you have a printer. Injora has some great silicone inserts.
I would check out @MVRCA, he has a website with plenty of knowledge.
Time to experiment

This truck is not a scale comp rig. It is designed to be a trail truck. If you wanted performance oriented, you should have went for the stance.

Alright, that's fair. I didn't know.

I have an Ascender and it does extremely well on the terrain I run it, same with the SCX10.0 I used to run back in the day.

I don't know what I was expecting I suppose.

Straight up a rock face it is amazing, trailing on off camber stuff it gets tricky.

You should have gone with a builders kit!
I forgot to mention earlier, there is a guy making a chassis out there called the ZOKU? It will take your Phoenix to the next level.

Thanks for the heads up on the chassis.

As a Dad of a young family I don't have time for kits currently. It's much easier for me to just swap out the electronics.

I want to get out and do as much running as possible before the weather changes.

I'm going to try and move the Phoenix while it's still the new hot truck.

How are the electronics in the Vanquish RTR?
Like everything else I imagine. I haven't heard good things about the rtr electronics, a bit lacking if you have built one froma kit and chose your own stuff.
This is @MVRCA stuff right here, but I haven't seen him in a while.

How are the electronics in the Vanquish RTR?

I never tried them with the exception of the motor; if you look at the picture of the Phoenix chassis it is all aftermarket. I'm going to put everything back to stock and list it with the other electronics I pull from this to sweeten the deal.

The TX they include feels really good in the hand. I personally like a larger transmitter as I have giant hands but I can tell this would be really easy to use one handed and the wheel is buttery smooth. The screen and menu system are nice too.

I installed the TX/RX into my Knightrunner in preparation to sell it. During that time I was reflecting on the TX thinking, you almost don't need to change it out.

Edit;

Put back to stock and ready for a new home.

With working on this truck I didn't get anything accomplished on the Stance besides switching the wheels over.

Obviously had to check the flex.
