Hi All,

My wife and I are currently using a couple Motorola V60s and are on Cingular Wireless. We're very unhappy with the performance of these phones/service so I'm looking for suggestions for some good performing phones and a good carrier. I've also used Sprint service before and will never go back to them.

I don't use my phone for anything other than making calls and playing a few games on the throne. :constipat so please don't suggest any camera phones, I wouldn't use it and my work doesn't allow them. Thanks for your help!

I can't suggest a specific phone but I've been with Verizon for some years now. I'm always been very pleased with the coverage area and customer service. Also I know for a fact that Verizon has already agreed NOT to disclose name/number lists for a future cell phone "phone book". Not all cellular providers have refused to participate. If privacy is important I say go with Verizon.

As far as service goes you will find that different companies are stronger then other depending on where you live. The best thing to do is to ask others that live near you what they use.

I have a LGlx5550 its not a camera phone, but it has great features. Speaker phone is what clinched it for me. It works great and has an excellent batt life.

I'm diggin sprint and now with the nextel merger in the future it will be huge. I have used LG phones and Sanyo and like both.

sweetdiesel - I've been using Verizon since I first got a cell phone about 4-5yr's ago and have been very happy with them. I've used a few different phones during that time however right now I'm using the LG VX6000 and like it a lot.

verizon is off tha rack. my mom got the cheap samsung phone and its still good. V60 are sup[posed to be real good phones or was that V60P? i know that verizon carries motorolla and i remember playing wiht the motorola V60P not sure about v60 you can ask the guys @ your local verizon store if you choose them. they also I've a really good deal on the phones if you take a 2 year contract.

Ok fellas coming from a telecom tech I have been using pretty much most of the big carriers.

AT&T is good still around even though CIngular merged with them.

Cingular has became better in its time. having acces to all of AT&T's tower is just great for them. They are trying to ride the GSM network but if you have a horrible phone like the V60 its not made for the GSM network. GOt to h ave the equipment to use the best tower.
Verizon is a great provider. THey are currently trying to make the switch over to the 1XRTT system. Its an upgrade from the digital IS-95 system.

SPrint is ok IMO very strict on payment and their Customer Service is horrible.

Alltell is CDMA compatible and they are big like Verizon.

With all this said you need to have a phone compatible with the best network on the carrier. Check what is big in your area.

Go to Wirelessadvisor.com and enter your zipcode to see what is in your area.

Hope this helps

Jon

i have a erricson t226 on cingular and have no problems with it.

verizon and cingular have the best service maps

Thanks for all the help guys, especially you jon2. Did some more checking on the net and for my area, AT&T/Cingular and Verizon are the best carriers. Also spoke to some family and friends firom the bay area and they all agree that these two have the best service. I am going to stick with Cingular for now and just upgrade our phones to ones that are GSM compatible. Hopefully they have some decent non-camera ones available. I'll also check out that T226 and that LG phone.

Appreciate all the help, thanks again!

I'm about to go get a Cingular phone. Motorola V400. Verizon seems to be good too. I had them at a time. Then i had sprint, I Didnt like them, It wasn't clear. Then I have a virgin mobile... LOL DONT BUY ONE, So this motorola should be good. Later
