Looking for a lil help with HPI MT2 T-15

Hey everyone. I would liek to say I'm doing well but I'm not. I recently aquired a HPI MT2 this one has a T-15 motor in it. This truck was used but in almost perfect shape. I completly rebuilt the truck, gave it a good once over including engine, carb ect. and found nothing wrong. Being I'm the second owner and not knowing how it was ran I went through (or tried) to do a quick break in period before just firing it up and running the bejesus out of it. I set the factory carb settings and fired it up. IT idled fine for a few mins then died out. I also noticed it was running way to much on the rich side so I adjusted a tad. This time it took alot longing to get it running but I did. And now it just seems to rough at Idle unless I give it some gas and let it idle way to high. I have changed the glow plug, went through tuning tips here and just about everything I can think of besides purchasing a new engine and still can't get this thing to run correctly. I could buy a new engine BUT the local hobby shop is 60 miles away and the guy who runs it is a jerk. Called him first but he wants cash up front just to test out my truck. SO this is my last resort. I wanted to get back nto the spring racing season as I think this would be a good truck but this is driving me mad. Also If anyone could pop me up somelinks for hop up parts that I can order that would be great. I want HPI but fro mthere site they steer away from non comercial buyers. Thanks for the help in advance.

I'd take the engine apart and see what kinda shape the piston/ sleeves in. If it's low on compression, I'd just replace it. Sounds like it may need sealed. Check the tank and fuel lines for leaks, too. Make sure and run fresh, quality 20% fuel. No traxxas fuel. If it's used, tune a little lean from factory settings(about an hour or 2 lean).

Ok thanks I'm heading now to get the stuff to sea lit but before I do ill do a complete check of the guts and see whats up. And I dont use traxxas I have heard bad things about their fuel in other cars/trucks. I'm using 20% now with a new hotter plug for colder weather here i nthe north. I was looking at replacement parts for this motor and seems to be just enough to get a new one. If I need a new one what brands do you recommend? And what size? I was thinking of stepping up to the 3.0 the New MTs come with maybe sooner the nlater haha. thanks again.
