I have a 1/8 nitro truck right now and I'm not happy with it at all, it's one problem after another.

I am now looking for a 1/8 buggy or truggy, what are the main differences in the two?

Could anyone reccomend me one?i live in Australia, I am willing to spend $400-$450 on a rtr one, id like one that's well known and I prefer one that has 2 gears.

Thanks in advance

Check out the HPI trophy 3.5 buggy or the D8S buggy or even the HPI Trophy 4.6 truggy. Other than those in that price range you can get an OFNA hyper7 with a force .28 engine and even a KYOSHO duo. And the main differences in buggy and truggy will be clearance and truggies mostly have bigger engines than buggies RTR. A truggy is the way to go for racing but your gona be way over budget for the best ones and they are better as kits. If you want a truggy rtr i recommend the HPI TROPHY TRUGGY that has a .28 engine pushing about 2.8hp rtr for like $469 US.

I just bought a HPI TROPHY 3.5 BUGGY. Waiting on ups to deliver it as i type. It will be my first 1/8 buggy. Very anxious to get it in hand too.

Zdragon has you covered on what to get, but I wanted to add that no buggy or truggy will have a two speed transmission. I will also secong the HPI Trophy 3.5 buggy or the Trophy truggy. I have the old version of the Trophy 3.5 and love it.

None will have them stock**

Just making that small clarification, sorry.

Top speed of both? I will be mainly thrashing it up and down the park and some serious bashing

Take a look at the Kyosho ST Truggy. The part # is ky31683T2 AKA. This is a ready to run that comes with a great 2.4 radio and also as a bonus has an extra set of AKA tires in the box. I bought one 2 months ago and it has proven indestructible. There are a lot of Kyosho upgrade parts available for those who want to spend money.

At the track, this truggy will hold its own against the big buck trudges. Take a look at this truggy.

Top speed of trophy 3.5 buggy stock is maybe 56mph and the trophy 4.6 truggy around 70mph from what I've seen on youtube speed runs.

I doubt the 70MPH one was a stock set up...most stock nitros will do between 35-50MPH out of the box. At least all the kits I've owned have fallen somewhere in that range (excluding on road touring cars). Hell even the Rustler VXL can't do 70MPH like the box claims even if you use the bigger pinion, smaller spur gear, and the bigger lipo like you're supposed to.
