Hello I'm new to electric and I just got a hpi trophy truggy but it needs a esc if anyone has a spare one laying around that they would like to sell or give away pls let me know thanks
Theoretically yes it could work but not really as its too low of an amp for a 1/8 truggy. and its more for helicopters I think.
Id take a look into Firma 150s on Jennys (stock RTR hardware from Arrmas and they resell them for quite cheap/decent prices)
Or, Hobbywing 8BL150 G2/WP. Both of those options are more basic/sensorless options. Imo Hobbywing is a bit better if you want to do more with programming as its more accessible with their program cards.
If you want to get a whole new esc/motor combo, and sensored, HW Max8s are beasts.
Been seeing alot recommending the XC esc's. Looks like a rebranded Hobbywing to me but Ill take a look on it later. Might be on my recommendations lists for electronics.
this is a Canadian price. You can shop around Ali express and Amazon until you find one of these economy units. But I strongly suggest spending more for the XC or finding a HW or Castle combo.

They are not considered a typical hobby grade unit. They're generally a budget basher part. They did recently come out with a more premium line. So they have some newer stuff. But it is really worth it to spend a few more bucks. Surpass motors are ok. The escs work but having less precise throttle control and greater heat build up. Less robust physical architecture. If its like 20 bucks. Why not. But the XC is only about 75 Canadian dollars. Which is like 50 USD now. A hobbywing Max8 costs me 225 up here. Castle even more. Cheap out on steering servos and batteries and radios. But not on ESCs
