well, my neighbor knows i love rc stuff, and he's seen my savage. he also had nitro that he ran a few years ago, and today he showed up on my doorstep with, which he didnt want anymore.

so i know its old, and spare parts are rare, but I'm gonna get it running and have it just to mess around with. it could be a project.

I'm fixing an RS42 for a friend....looks like a decent setup to bash around with.....I know someone selling an almost complete RS4 roller for 35 bucks if you need parts....

sounds good. i looked at it(no break down) and the only think that seems wrong at all the rear belt looks beat up. i may take him up on that offer. never know when you might need something

so..i tried getting it started and I'm finding it annoying so far. the high speed doesn't have a screw, it has a thing you twist with your fingers. i really dont understand it too well. also, I'm finding it a bit hard to prime and when i do get it primed its impossible to pull the starter.

the good news i have is the electronics work great. i can't believe how this thing turns when i simply push it down the driveway.

Ah, an old original Nitro RS4, back before they started using purple and countersinking the chassis. Just about everything from a RS4 2 is compatible with that car. Belts from a 2 will work and should still be available. Those actually have a nice steering set up, with an adjustable cam style servo saver similar to a Savage built in to it.

Actually the parts are not hard to come by. All the suspension is interchangeable
with the RS4 3 (uprights, knuckles. arms, shocks, etc.)and you can check eBay for any other parts you need . My first Nitro was a Original RS4 and I still have it and it runs great. Its a basic set up with the .15 single speed but its my most reliable and it still sees action. Good luck.

That single needle carb stinks. I took a carb off an old os cv-r 15 I had and put it on. If I remember correctly, the carb neck has a couple screws through the side of the neck holding the carb in. I had to drill/tap holes in the os carb that I used, but it worked much better. The engine ran much better. But, you would probably be better suited to just find a new drop in if you want to run it and be less annoyed.

No doubt, that single needle carb is the biggest piece of crap ever! I replaced mine with an OS 10e carb, it already had the holes in the side. The later version, the 10er did not have the holes, but could be drilled as Olds mentioned. But if you can find one of those carbs you will be much better off.

I have a couple RCs that roll great too.....turn good and Brakes......man look out they are good too......damn I need to get a couple new engines. I rebuilt one just like that for a friend and it was a damn good handling ride. It needed a new mill the old one was so gummed-up and rusted inside it would not run.

i havent tried starting it in a few weeks. still havent gotten around to getting a new pullstarter.

got the new pullstart. runs nicely. I'm not sure if its up to the top though, seems to be lacking a bit of power compared to what I've seen, but at least it runs. also doesn't go as fast as i though, but then again, on-road, not quite sure what to expect, and its an older car.

That is a nitro star .15, rated at about .56 hp, no rocket by any means. But the thing that really holds that engine back is the carb, they can and will perform much better with an OS carb. Drop an OS 15 engine in it and it will scream.

dang..thats prolly why. no shift. but this thing's a blast. all the little donuts, and it just takes off. seems to be easier to deal with than the savage too
