So I got my 5sc last week and its been a blast to drive. Last time I had it out it got really muddy so I wanted to clean it up and install the pull start cover by outerwears. I remove the cover and to me not being surprised there's no loctite on the cover screws. During my second run the exhaust had rattled loose and guess what? No loctite on the muffler screws. So since its raining here in western ny I figure I would check the rear diff for fluid. I pull off everything to get at it and the rear diff is almost empty. Where's the quality control hpi? It's not like I purchased a 150.00 car here I purchased a 1200 car here. Maybe we can make a sticky of what to check when you first get a baja that's new or used.

Rule of thumb for all RTR RC's no matter who makes it is to loctite screws going into metal yourself.

Lack of or little diff fluid in the Baja diff has been a known issue since the very first 5B came off the line and has continued to this day in the 5SC.

Ouch, with how much money that RTR kit is, first thing I would have done was smoked it up, then looked that rig 100% through and through again, especially knowing how much it cost you.

The guy with the most knowledge with 5th scales told me to check the diff and then it rang a bell. I've seen it everywhere and somehow I kinda forgot about it. I only ran two tanks and thank god that I did not run 10 and then check it like hpi suggests. I also called hpi and they said if the rear diff does fail within 2 years they would cover it. I guess that's the least they could do.
