When I got my stampede I pulled it apart and cleaned it up...this was my 1st R/C and I like Locked drivelines in real life so y not on the R/C I had an extra tranny so I locked the stripped planetary gears with some JB weld...sorry for the lack of "technical terms"

Here are the reasons not to do it:

1: Turning sucks on grass unless its wet on the street and dirt not so bad after tuning the susp
2: If any of the U joints on the driveshafts (CVD's?) have been streached too much it will pull them out
3: After you make sure those are all good you will then shear the pin/plastic inside the hub on the backside (where it goes from the plastic to the metal spindle)
4: The U-joint on the outputs of the transmission will start elongating the holes and cause the joints to seperate
5. To fix all of this I imagine aluminum parts would do the trick but then I would imagine the next thing to go is the gears inside the tranny and if not that then it would start reeking havoc on the slipper clutch and/or spur gear but I will be going back to posi before destroying anymore parts

It was fun/cool (great doughnuts in the wet grass and sand/dirt) while it lasted but I'm spending more time fixing than running although I'm pretty quick now at doing the fixes its aggravating...

Breakage seemed to occur when the truck was unstable and/or rolling generally when one drive wheel was not contacting the ground and the other was (where the posi would take up for the added energy and not break anything)

Hope this helps someone decide against it if they are thinking about it

Thats awsome. Love to see real car stuff in these little rc's. As i am a mechanic, i was thinking about swapping my SB .12 for some BB but hobbie shop advised me not to because id break all the little trans parts and axles. Do they make a dana 60 in RC size. Lol

If you have a Stampede the only upgrade the tranny would need is an aluminum idler gear, add a set of cvd's and your set! A 2.5 Pede is very interesting and requires a lot of throttle control.

No i do not have a stamped. I have old school ones. 1 TL NXT and 2 TL GTX, all got .12R and Traxxas Nitro Sport .15. All in need of big balls.

Thats a very true statement...looks like my truck I lost 2 body clips today where it did the end over end tumbling and knocked off a clip

it's def wheelie on demand if not back flip on demand

you have a place I can get these?

Is that your pede? if so what other upgrades do you have

I did find on Traxxas site there is a 2.5 converson kit for my nitro sport. I was looking around and didnt find the kit anywhere. Humm

That was my pede. The only other things done to it were steele drive yokes and a Maxx fuel tank. Even with the steel yokes it will eat shaft, cvd's will fix that.

Aluminum idler gear

I was thinking about the electric pede...the nitro tranny will be fine.

can you clarify what cvd's are...I'm a noob and not up to speed on the tech terms...thanks

I'm assuming its constant velocity differential?

I just blew the CVD on my bros Nitro Sport, what ones will be stronger then the plastic ones i have and where can i get them? The site you show the shiny kit doesn't say for Nitro Sport. The only other ones on that site are the plastic ones. Any help? Thanks

I ordered your kit + the stock just if it doesn't fit. I think the Rustler is a way better Nitro Sport lol. I got to get a new truck.

I think the Pede and the Rusty/nitro sport use the same ones but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't think there is a big difference in the Rusty and the nitro sport. BTW the conversion kit for the Rustler should also work in the Nitro Sport.
