So I'm finally gonna get around to painting a body for my Maxx. I thought I'd try my hand at some flames and maybe some other kind of effects for the first time. I feel the need to challenge myself. So I thought I'd get some of that Parma liquid mask. So I came home to do some rcnitrotalk searchin on some tips on how to use this stuff effectively. it seems that that stuff can be a pain to take off if not applied properly. Then I came up with another idea. Plasti-dip! The aerosol type. So I did a test on a half ruined body I had layin around. OMG! This stuff is great! you guys got to try this out. It's super easy to put down. I sprayed 3 somewhat light coats and used a hairdryer to speed things up. In 10 minutes you're good to go. just score it like you would any liquid mask then carefuly start to pull the desired areas away. It bonds to the Lexan very very nicely and leaves a super super (and super) clean line. being that it's basically rubber when it's dry it can take quite a stretching before it snaps so peeling this stuff off the body is hella easy. I even sprayed it over some previously sprayed Fascolor and it came off the dried paint with no problems at all. I don't know if it would cause any issues if left on for an extended amound of time but I would imagine you wouldn't wanna do that anyways. I had it on the body for maybe 20 minutes and showed no signs of fogging when removed. The only problem is that I only happend to have it in black so I couldn't see through the body after i sprayed it. So I wouldn't have been able to see the desired cut lines drawn on the outside. But, they DO make it in clear but the local home improvement store doesn't carry it... time to do some searchin......

Has anybody else tried this? or am I just discovering old news?

they do make a clear version for sure. you can look in the paints department at you're local home depot thats where it was in mine. some places have it nice and tucked away right there @ the desk so the best thing to do is ask the person 2 the paint desk.

I had real good results using elmers glue as a mask.

I've read about that in the forums here also... curious though.. how do you apply it? how long does it take to dry?

Nobody carries the clear around here. I found it online at a couple places so I ordered a can. I'm gonna keep experimenting and practicing for this body but when I get started I'll try to take some pics of the plasti dip mask work

I'm gonna try using a brush wiht some on a body to experiment its interesting now.
