Hey Guys, I went to the track on Wednsday, and some guys were telling me that if I use my Slash on the street, my Lipo will go bad. To me it sounds dumb, but is this true? I just don't want to mess up my Lipo.

no,LiPo is just batterie that sends energy to the ESC and ESC sends it to the motor, when using your rig on-road your run times would be bette, that's all.

never heard this before...
all that u would possible damage is the engine due to excessive grip and the gears stripping but your car would wheel stand before that would happen

I've never heard that LiPos are bad on-road, i just thought that it may put strain on the motor because of all the power and the grip on the road.

Onroad is the least ammount of resistance possible. Its deep grass/mud/stuff that makes your lipo struggle. You have nothing to worry about with onroad and lipo, cuz if you are using a lipo, you probably wont grip anyway. :)

If that were the case I would have asked them "then why do they make brushless cars using lipos for on road?".

i.e. HPIs sprint flux on road.

brushless can handle more power which leads to more top speed.
Brushless motor can get 50000rpm if using good motor and ESC.
non brushed motor will be ever able to use more power and give more torque then brushless motors but also it will never be able to reach speeds which brushless motors get with no problem.
when having Brushless motors and ESC you can set them up like you want it to be,
you can set them to accelerate slowly or rapidly to your needs, brake power etc.

HPI sprint Flux does great with brushless motor and it's faster then it ever was with no problem,to add, brushless motors are often limited by ESC for safety reasons.
Brushless is the way to go.
more power,speed and no maintenance.

the only thing I've heard even remotely simular to this was the fact that the weight difference of a lipo compared to a nimh will throw off the balance of an onroad car. since the lipo is lighter, it will make the car handle differently.

i have never heard anything about a driving surface in particular being bad for any battery.

Lipo's are about 40% lighter then NiMh but you can always get fishing weights and put them on front of the car and that will improve steering.
LiPo's can send more power which will lead to better performance.

or you could just compensate the weight loss on one side of the vehicle by slightly loading a shock, or adjusting the trim on steering on the reciever.

alpine, he wouldnt know that, because he is just pulling a charlie. he probably has never even owned an onroad, or lipo for that matter...

I'm thinking the same thing here.

actually,I had own a on road car and played with Rustler VXl with 3s LiPo...
it had some trouble with steering because there wasn't enough weight on the front of it but that only occurred on high speeds (30mph+ )

I hear ya, but i might as well put true life experiences in between his Ctrl+C Ctrl+V...

I had no problem with my rustler VXL until around 55mph with steering..... but the slash VXL will start to fly after about 30.....

why do you think that I cope and paste?
I typed this up!

that post you made about the baja clones is a strait copy/paste from hpibajaforum.com. what makes me believe any of your other posts are not? why must you fib?
