I'm in the process of building a very beefy LST2 from the ground up and since I'm going to be running very high torque servos I wanted to know what would be involved in putting in a lipo rx pack. Not trying to save weight just trying to keep the voltage up so the servos stay closer to their max potential a bit longer. Its my understanding that you need a regulator to bring down the voltage from the lipo so you don't fry anything. Would these two Losi parts work?

Other then the care and feeding of the lipo is there anything else I need, or any parts that would be better?

same here i dont know much about electric's or any about lipos but i know that if you put a 2400mah receiver battery you can run for a long ass time.
 
from the descriptions of the parts... yes, they'll work fine. you do the same thing with a Battery Eliminating Circuit when using even bigger packs in full electric, if your ESC doesn't have a good enough one.

anyway... yeah. make sure you have something to charge that with, as you can't use a 'normal' charger.
 
The Lipo setup will give you some amazingly long run times compared to NiCads or NiMHs. However, if you ever damage them in a bad wreck, you could have a problem.

You will need a special charger, and you might want to consider the MRC Super Brain 997. It will charge any batteries you have, so you won't need several different chargers, and it can also do 2 different types or voltages at the same time.
You also need to keep an eye on them as they charge. Don't set up the charger and walk away from them.
 
Thanks for the input on that charger rolex I'll have a look at it. I'm having a hard time figuring out what charger to get because right now all I'm charging is the TX, RX, and one sub c in my glow starter but I'm thinking about getting and on road touring with lipos....

Anybody have any input on the Duratraxx ICE or the Triton 2 chargers? These are the two I've been leaning towards

By the way, the 997 is also powered by a separate 12V supply that plugs into the wall, and then into the charger. If you want to charge at the field, you just disconnect the power supply and clip to your car battery or lighter.
It's totally versatile. I don't think they missed a trick with this one.
I replaced my Dymond super turbo charger with this one.
You can either tell it what charge you want, or it will read the # of cells and determine the charge on its' own.
$119.99 at Hobbytown U.S.A. Well worth it. It's the only charger you'll ever need.

Rats....I just checked on A-Main, and they have it for $95.
The bottom of the page shows the 12V supply and cables.
