I'm looking for a 11.1v liPo pack on ebay and i see these packs from Honk Kong that are stupid cheap has anybody here got one that was worth it or do i have to spend 80 dollars on a name brand pack

I'm wondering the same thing actually, but common sense tells me that Lipo is dangerous and buying a pack from some dude that makes them in his garage vs a name brand might not be a wise decision. I keep hearing Lipo can be MAJOR fire hazards...

I have yet to start using Lipo, but if/when I buy a Slash I want to start so I can race it!

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I.E you have to pay for quality.

"where everyday throwaway goods are cheap, quality goods cost that little bit more and last much longer".

My opinion ? Go for a Quality LiPo Pak brand from Either a TRUSTED or RECOMMENDED source.

Also, you may want to ask SweetDiesel, he was/Is the "Electric Guru" of 2008., he also knows his way around LiPo like you wouldn't beleive.

I've bought about 12 packs off ebay, 2s and 3s and well as 6 "american" made packs. all 6 of the u.s packs died very quickly and only one, yes one of the hong kong packs i have had has had a problem. I've ran three hong kong 3s lipos hard on my scalers, through snow, mud and even submerged them without even covering them up and they are still working like brand new with well over 50 charges on each one. Every MaxAmps pack I've had didnt even last a month! and they are expensive packs....you do get what you pay for on alot of things but lipo in my experience is not always one of them. I'm not sure that Dom will back me on this one but i bet Chip will, i know that he has spent an ass load on "the good" packs like i have and they have failed him as well and i know he too has had good luck with the cheaper packs.

and another thing is, alot of the other brand just buy the hong kong packs and relable them as their own then jack the price up a bit. you want some, i sell you some SNG 11.1 lipo's lol...

shoot for the price, buy two! have one for a back up....i'll pm you somewhere else to try to.

On the less expensive packs, the C ratings are usually lower than the more expensive packs. To compensate, you would purchase a pack with more capacity in order to gain more current output at a cost of more weight. For bashing this is normally not an issue. For racing where weight can be an issue, you want to run the lightest pack possible. That way if you need to add balast, you can add it where it balances the car and achieves the lowest CG.

I've had killer luck ordering batteries off of ebay. Only nimh's, but I was skeptical, too. I just had 2 4500 6 cells sent to me and I can't even pronounce the name. 50 bucks shipped. I've only used them a couple times so longevity is yet to be seen. I ran them hard, full throttle up and down the road until I noticed a decrease in performance(20 minutes). They were hardly warm. The venoms I bought at the lhs were $65. 3000's. They get hot as heck and are already losing performance(about 7-8 uses). I charge all my batteries at 2 amps, let them cool for 15-20 min, then finish them with 1 amp. The venoms are between 120-130 degrees when they're done while the off brands don't reach 100. My buddy's brutal to the 3800's he got from the same place. Charges them as soon as he stops the truck, multiple times a day, ect... He's had them for a couple months and they work like new still. I'd say go for it.

Dunno about ebay but I'm running some zippy packs and very impressed. Lots of people have been having lots of luck with em and the prices are pretty awesome!

The best packs I've heard of from Asia are called Kokam. They are the same cells that Orion uses. Definitely looks like a pack worth trying.
