I plan on getting a GTP when I move out. I REALLY can't afford a $750 for a healthy snake minus a weird tank it will need. Besides as weord as they are about eating I really wanna be prepared for one.

tree pythons are not easy to take care of....some have a hard time w/ feeding....and they are typically a nasty breed.....Clark, the big snake breeder guru stopped breeding/selling them I heard cause too many were dying from lack of proper care...and that guy has real exotic super breeds of snakes....I want an albino ball python....they were a couple grand last time I looked but hopefully when my kid is older we will get one.....the ferret should be dead by then..LOL..that just sounded wrong...

Hell, GTPs die like crazy in the wild from being too picky eating. I know they are mean as hell too. I've only held a small one...have you seen the teeth on those thigns?

That green python looks like pure F$%&*!G evil. You snake guys have some big cajones to be handling these bad boys.

YEP, they have serious fangs...alot of people think they are a deadly venomous snake because of those.....I had inherited about half a herp shop when it closed down...my friend didn't have any room for all of the stuff he had...I ouldn't take the real exotic poop he had (like tree pythons and Emerald tree boas) cause that would have been a full time job in itself.....I found homes for about 50 different species, took almost a year and I wasn't even selling most of it.....just don't get crazy w/ the colllections cause you are doing more harm than good for the animals by keeping certain species near each other......they just stress out and die from all kinds of poop....GTP you'd need to be able to paneacure them yourself pretty regularly....or pay out the ass for a vet.....
SD, it's not about cajones...it's about understanding....besides those don't get much bigger than 6-8 feet at most...

I have a guy across the street from me and he's got a 6' what ever. It looks like a corn snake if they get that big. It's orange/black. I don't get close enough to ask him. Next time he has it out, I'll YELL at him to see what kind it is. He let's it out to get sun or to find a snack or something. Not my idea of a pet.

I work with a guy that has over 100 snakes. He actually had to build an addition to his house just for them. He is from Australia so what do you expect. He also has a website and breeds/sells his snakes (corns/sand boas).

tree pythons arent a first time snake the need a constant humidity of close to 80%. thier natural habbitat is around 90 degrees but has been proven they prefer temps of 80-85 degrees. thier tanks are usually custom made with just sticks laying horizantally through the walls. even though most dont put hides in the tanks they still need a place to reteat when feeling threatined. this is just some info for any interested.

i got to take of one for a week a couple years ago for a freind of mine and i loved i them. i also got to hold a green anaconda.

danny, how did you feed him? long tongs and birds? LOL...how big was the G.A?......that's one snake I would NEVER EVER understadn why anyone would own...I used to have a pic of some kid in burma washing the head of this gigantic python.....I justcouldn't fathom letting my kid do that....I mean you couldn't really do much if he decided Jr. was gonna be lunch.....I mean the kid would be crushed faster than you could kill it......
I've bare handled a coral snake...anyone want to try???
LOL..it's actually not as crazy as it sounds, they are too small to bite you except between the toes or fingers....just keep em closed and your good....I was still sweating like a lil bitch the whoe time....
the best environments for the GTP are not only humidity controlled but have really good airflow......similar to a Chameleon's tank.....I used to just screw mounts into the wall near a corner then get treebranches (bleached & dried) screw those to the mounts and leave it open....have a heater on theground near the same corner and a small humidifier that sits on a shelf above em.....it was actually more of a mister but combined w/ the heat it raises humiidty...
the snakes would be able get down from that so you'd have to enclose it with silk screen or something soft and vented.....

i would advis ethat a corn snake is pretty easy to look after i only feed mine once every 9/10 tays with a dead large mice .

before i went out my garden to go up my shed and i saw a mouse grabbed it and chucked it in with the sanke harsh but it was funny to see the mouse running but no were to go then the snake just grabbed it constricted it till it was dead and eat it

definately hearty snakes...Corn / Milk and King snakes are always a good first snake/reptile......we tried breeding spotted sinoloan milk snakes..the bands were forming circles w/ rings instead of banding them...we got through about 4 liters and the trait recessed instead of progressed....lost the gene and that was that.....the few that we got had 1/2 banded bodies and half circled....made some bank of those...my friend sold a few to Alex Winters....that guy is a Gecko collector from hell...has a ton of em....

you can use tongs or clean neddle nose plyers. the one i cared for was still on mice. so it wasn't hard. he was a little nippy though. i fed him frozen thawed mice.

I used to have quite the collection. I had a 13' female burmese python that ate a huge rabbit every two weeks, I had a 8' male burmese, a 5' red tail boa, a 6' columbian boa, a pair of black and white desert phase california kings, and a pair of pueblan milks. At the same time I also had 4 iguanas in an outdoor huge custom cage, a black and white tegu, a savanah monitor, and a caiman. I had one room in my house dedicated to reptiles. It became a full time job keeping, feeding and cleaning them, it got real old after a while. Now I only have one 3 1/2' corn snake, one 4' iguana, and a turtle, mostly for my 5 year old son, he loves reptiles.
