Hey guys i drowned my Wraith yet again. decide to take stuff apart and discover my transmitter hasnt been waterproofed... no wonder i keep killing it lol.

I went the conformal coating route. fingers crossed. This truck uses a traxas tqi reciever and transmitter

pop the case off theres 2 little tabs on one side and 1 long tab on the other, give em a gentle push and they pull

BE CAREFUL OF THE ANTENNA DONT BREAK IT

Then take some conformal silicone and paint it on. it takes 15 mins to dry between coats

i coated everything but the pins themselves.

let it dry, i had time and was in no rush so i let it dry for a ful day between the first and second coating.

i need to grab a UV light it makes the coating glow letting you see if there are any areas you missed. i just made sure to coat it like a madman to ensure i coated it fully.

i feel like its pretty well waterproofed now. if i do get another water issue ill just dip the entire shebang into some plastidip.

Nice! I didnt know you could even do that. But why not just a water tight rx box?
i have a few of them, but I'm lazy and get tired of having to open them up to add a light or a winch, and they take up space that id rather use for something else.
this one was in a waterproof reciever box, when it drowned on me last time, this reciever box, the small area where the wires come out allows me a spot to find weakness.

my seals are intact and in good shape, but if you look inside the waterproof reciever box.... theres mud dried up, with that mud came enough water to trip my reciever out.
now can also just sticky tape my reciever anywhere in the car,

he reciever box also took up valuable real estate

heres where it previously sat, ( wires cleaned obviously its under maintenance lol no judgy)
then i had me battery long wise in front of the spur gear

by removing the reciever box i can put the battery where it previously was.
i can if i want slap the reciever on the roof out of the way of everything now

so if i decide to add a set of lights or a winch its much easier.
and if i were to be competing the removal of the weight is also a plus, ( doesn't matter to me lol i glue coolers and such to mine lol)

Been meaning to do this too, I have everything, just haven't gotten around to it. 🤷‍♂️
I've had it on hand for like 3 months lol have just let it dry and killed it agian and again, was sitting here bored off work and decided it was time... took me an hour to track stuff down lololol

gotcha, yeah i'd imagine accessing the receivcer in a watertight box could be quite the pain if you need to do it often
