I do have a 1/12 LC car that I have fitted with a rally car type body on but, it was not that BMW. I once tried fitting the HPI "TrueTen" Datsun 510 body to it but it just isnt wide enough.
I dont have a PTG-2 so I can't help there. I will help you anyway I can though.

I was just looking at that again today. There's not a single build of yours on that chassis that I don't love.

I need to get another one so I can have the truggy (its a truggy right now), and have the other be a car, SCT, or the baja bug.

That Datsun body is pretty narrow, it looks way cool, but seemed limiting to me. And limiting as far as body swap and what would be needed for that.

That's great, thanks!

My idea (in a nutshell) is to gather data and price a kit with known upgrades to see how that shakes out monetarily speaking and compare that to a scratch build (which i prefer) using exactly the components I want.

Ideally, I'd like to build it up 4x4 and with slightly higher ground clearance than what's typically on a kit rally car. :)

If I can, for fun if like to be able to mount either the BMW or Audi to the same chassis and I want to include and ESS sound system

Yea the true ten bodies wont fit the LC racing stuff. I can't find any specs on the Lancia body that fits the PTG, but it is made by Killerbody.

On the killerbody webpage, I found that the body for the PTG is a 257mm wheelbase and 195mm in width. If the bodies you are looking at are that size roughly then it should work on a PTG. For the 1/12 or 1/14 scale LC cars, you need a body width of about 195-200mm and the wheelbase of 227mm (that is 1/12 lc12b1 size or 1/14 truggy size) roughly.

Yep, I track with you. For the 1:10, 254mm BMW body the width is 200mm so should fit with no issues.

I can't wait to see this thing then.
Some body start a go fund me 🤩

Hopefully this weekend I can get some data together on the cost differences. Then I'll know the next path forward. 😎

I couldn't wait until the weekend. I put together a crude list of parts for a build from scratch rather than kit. I figured, money-wise, would not favor building from scratch, but I wanted to see anyway.

I only included the big hitters. It's not a complete list by any means and is fluid. Building from scratch is coming in roughly $50 more based on bigger parts alone. I'm sure that gap will widen if I dig into washers, nuts, and nuances of shocks etc...

So now I'll have to look into just starting with the kit and upgrading components 🤔

Looks pretty good. Line 25.... no aluminum shock tower😉🤣 stick with CF. 👍
Also, don't order shocks until you have the car, tires and wheels.
You might need to change the suspension throw to match the new tire height.
I think its way easier to figure out when all the parts are in hand.
Tires and wheels?

This is gonna be an awesome build!!! 😁

WarrenRC may have that car a bit cheaper. Whatever you do, get the kit that has the fender flare/mud guards and the little under body/mud cover thing. I think one PTG has that stuff, and the other PTG does not. 🤷‍♂️

You're right! It is cheaper there

The 2R version has the CF bits, guards and such. The 2 version doesn't.

Well, I wanted to do this thing by scratch, but I may have to go the kit route...😕

You nerd! I do that chit too 😅

I need one of these things too! These LC Racing buggies just kill me! 😍
Nothing wrong with starting with a kit and building it out to suit! Sometimes your build simply doesn' t NEED all the fancy hop up parts to make it into what you want it to be.
You have PLENTY of time to find and build a chassis that you really love. 😉
You can build this one from kit, next one from parts, after you know the platform better too. 😎
( hint hint... build more than one! 🤣)
